New jackar 34mm f/1.8 lens
Jackar Optical released a new 34mm f/1.8 lens with native E-mount. It is a manual lens and all specs and images can be read/seen at Snapshooter.jackarlens.com and on Flickr. The lens will be for sale on eBay by early December and cost $190. Jackar adapters and fisheye lenses can already be found on eBay (Click here).
The lens design is based on the current C-mount 35mm lens ($40 here on eBay). What they changed is the material, finishing, the ring is larger and turning has been improved. Plus the lenses are multi-coated and of course mount is NEX. It comes with a lens hood and genuine leather case as you see form the images below:

7 months ago |51mm seems alright no? and it’s hella cheap. 199 for a f1.8 lens and a leather pouch O_O

7 months ago |It’s a C mount lens. It is not “hella cheap”, but a ripoff. As said in the article, the lens itself costs around $40 on eBay, plus maybe $10 for the adapter. But if you are happy to pay $199 for it….

7 months ago |If it is based in the Fujian 35/1.7 you can expect very poor quality wideopen and huge spherical aberration with very poor border/corner quality.
I have been using the fujian for a while and it ios just a toy.
I will probably invest in a Sigma 30/2.8, a bit slow but very good quality from wide open

7 months ago |If this is based on the C-mount lens, it is terrible at any aperture, especially for color shots. If you want to make pseuo-vintage shots, go ahead – works great. Tune up that ISO, switch to BW and lens will do all the vignetting and blurry edges.

Not a bad lens at all, you just have to know how to use it. Stopped down the blur to center effect is very cool.

7 months ago |I have no idea why so many of you are against these c mount lenses, they’re perfectly useable for me for photography, we’re not just talking about technicals, right? Unless you are just “photography gear collectors” and use your gear to take photos of brick walls for ‘testing’…

7 months ago |I just couldn’t convince them over at 43 rumours that it was a breathed over fujian, people are so gullible! “But it’s 34mm and the fujian is 35mm” *facepalm*
I think the basic fujian version is excellent fun, I see it as an addition to conventional lenses and not a rival, it is unique and I use it a lot, you can find subjects that would otherwise be boring but suddenly becomes intersting because they suit the crazy way this lens renders. It’s tiny price is part of the appeal. This lens is certainly well presented and no doubt built to much higher standardsbut it’s still that little cctv lens underneath.

7 months ago |I said in the original post a few days ago the samples looked like my $40 c-mount lens and got flack about that comment because “the housing is too big” as if someone cant take the optics from one lens and put it in another housing. For what I paid, its a great lens, a fun toy that creates some funky photos and videos, for almost $200, that’s not very far from the 45/1.8, which is one of the best m43 lenses money can buy. Save your cash and get a cheap c-mount on ebay. There’s a saying about putting lipstick on a pig, that seems to apply to this lens.
