7 months ago |Nice to see another smart adapter to the NEX system. But man, the chinese definitely need some help with the aesthetics. 90% of the noname chinese adapters found at ebay are butt ugly. Too bad since they mostly work okay, and they could have been looking alright with just a tiny bit of work.
This adapter is no exception. If it was plain black, had a nicer less protruding release button (not that fugly standard one that is found on several other adapters), and last but not least, a typography that did not look like a joke, it would actually look really neat. Now it doesn’t. Let’s hope it works better than it looks.

7 months ago |and would you recommend it? is it tightly assembled? does it feel solid? I mean, if it didn’t have AF, would you still say it is a high-enough quality adaptor?
thank you.

7 months ago |I wonder if anyone will try to make similar adapter for m4/3 glass… this would be epic, though probably not as elegant as what we have here (I imagine this would have some chips sticking out of it in a similar way LA-EA2 adapter has got bottom part sticking out).

3 months ago |I have the Metabones Speed Booster adapter and am pleased with it. Very nicely finished. Only it does not AF with Canon EF lenses released pre-2006. I can nevertheless recommend it for what it is – it does everything it is claimed to do.
I also have a RJ Glassless Adapter – which is in the same class as the Metabones Smart Adapter. Unlike the Smart Adapter the RJ will auto focus with seemingly all Canon EF lenses – I have tried quite a few. With the Canon 85mm f1.2 MkI the RJ will AF with accuracy at (guess) 85% of the time. Not as good as on a native Canon body but quite acceptable to me. It is fairly slow and you have to wait it out sometimes, but it generally gets there and once focused it is pin-sharp – it will also do touch up focus whilst in AF mode switched but you don’t get magnified screen or focus peaking on the NEX body in this mode. The Smart Adapter is MF only with this lens. Also note that this particular lens is not actually a focus speed demon even on the Canon dslr. But it is invariably very precise when focused.
The RJ is very well finished – perhaps just slighly less so than the Metabones product if push came to shove but nevertheless a sophisticated looking product and feels well made. It has an optional tripod mount ring. This has no markings or detents to indicate horizontal or vertical and is a little hard to set precisely, but it can be done. The mount ring slips over the adapter conventionally and has a tightening ring. This ring does take up valuable space between the adapter and the camera grip which some might feel limiting.
Both products are good but the RJ is the only one that actually allows AF across the range of Canon EF lenses.

3 months ago |Just got my RJ adaptor yesterday, works with all my ef lenses, tokina but not with my sigma 17-50 f2.8. Does anybody have a clue why? it doesn’t seem to register on my fs100
