Something else: There is a rumor about a new Full Frame Sony NXcam.

This is neither an A-mount nor an E-mount rumors but some of you might be happy to hear this anyway. So here is the news. One SAR source heard that a new “full frame professional NXCAM” will be announced for the upcoming NAB show in Las Vegas (April).
If some other sources has info about the upcoming camcorders (also E-mount camcorders) than feel free your info anonymously by using the contact form on the right sidebar. Thanks!

(lol sorry couldn’t resist).

4 months ago |Exactly what I need! Now, I can throw away all the NEX cams and use the humongous E mount lenses on this. They would look tiny, at least!
Throw in a new playstation and a Bravia, I am all set. LOL

4 months ago |Is this me or all these Sony ‘news’ are so boring compared to what happens elswhere in Fuji, Nikon areas etc
Where is the A78, nex8, and revolutionnary stuff used us to deliver ?
This sounds more evolutionnary and not always in the good sense…

3 months ago |I agree it’s certainly more exciting. In Nikon land you have the V1/J1 with its massive 13x8mm sensor and Fuji have now added a fourth lens to their X-mount. SONY will never match that scale of innovation.

4 months ago |Full frame is nice for photos and much less viable for videography, but a professional version of the NEX-VG900 would be no surprise. Just let’s hope it’s not the only new Sony camcorder for NAB.
Sky_walker
4 months ago |well, obviously a majority of 5D mkII buyers disagrees with your statement about variability for videography.
Douglas
4 months ago |My guess? maybe the FS100 replacement or a new model on top of the FS700 something like FS1500.
I’m don’t very convinced of the FF idea for a video camera.
Hendrick
4 months ago |FF is great for video. Much easier to achieve shallow depth of field with wide lenses than with super35mm or academy35. Like the statement above, 5D buyers disagree and many RED buyers would also disagree.
Joel Richards
3 months ago |RED is not “full-frame” meaning 36X24mm. It is Super 35mm (~24X16mm)–which is the same size as the FS100, FS700, etc.

4 months ago |I wonder if this is the 4K prototype Sony had at CES. Attaching a 3.5-6.3 on such a camcorder would still be ok as long as it’s optimized for video. Imagine clean signal upto 16k ISO. It could work. The FS100 really is still a solid camera at it’s price point with some life still in it. The only next upgrade path for it is 4K (consumer XAVC 4:2:0) and ND-filters with a better gamma profile. Doubt Sony would move the LCD back to a better location.

3 months ago |I hope they can fix the sensor’s corner problems that plague the VG900.

3 months ago |FS-900?
MrLee
3 months ago |Im sure this will be a fixed lens Zeiss or fixed Sony like most models like this in the past has… Fine with me though… I like this type of body over the Nex video cameras… Esp. the junky VG-900…
MrLee
3 months ago |Image shows fixed Sony G lens so this will be pretty good camera for about $4,000 I would guess…

3 months ago |Dream specks for this camera:
Full frame 8-10MP sensor
4k AVCHD or mpeg encoding at 24p and 1080 24-60p
4:2:2 would be nice but not 100% needed
24-300mm 35mm equivilant lens fixed lens
f1.4-2.8 lens
dual SD card slot like AX2000
2,4,6 stop ND filter like AX2000
Price tag $4,500-$5,000
This would camcorder alot of people would get into I think. yes there is alot to be said for interchangable lens, raw video etc etc but there are already camera’s out there for that. What alot of my clients are looking for is an all in one camera that is DSLR video quality but in the body of a camera like AX2000.
Hope its true and not too boring of an update
