9 months ago |Agreed. What is it with this undue adoration of the boring cardboard box any new and exciting toy comes packeged in?

Sony should be much more open concerning that…

9 months ago |Why has Sony not included the SSS into the NEX-7 if Olympus was able to do it in his smilarly large and heavy body of the PEN EP-3? If the NEX line of cameras is meant to be developed further (which I hope) towards serious products an in-body stabilisation system would help, I feel. This is actually the main disadvantage of the NEX compared to the SLT line at the moment.

I agree upto a point, people have done great things with the GH2, but they have been honest, skilled people. The problems start when the malicious or unskilled start playing about and bricking the cameras of the masses intentionally or unintentionally. You only have to read DPreview or even this site to see how primitively tribal some people become over their chosen brand of camera, their behavior becomes that of a child. Fortunately for Panasonic, they are pretty inoffensive as a company and as such are unlikely to suffer sabotage. But sooner or later some juvenile owner of a rival brand might think it funny to release a hacked firmware update for 150mbps 4K 4:2:2 video which just contains a routine to stuff the bootloader followed by an endless loop and suddenly we have loads of bricked cameras. It takes five minutes to download and install a firmware update, but days to tell the whole world not to.

9 months ago |Why keeping all NEX-Users from the benefits of Firmware Hacking, only because of a few daredevils jumping over the top? Everybody knows firmware updating is risky – even when using Sony’s own updates. They’re not giving me a lens rear cap and a body cap to protect my lens and camera, but I should praise their protection against possibly malicious firmware hacking only by disabling hacking itself? No, I’d prefer the same freedom of choice from Sony as Panasonic gives their customers. But if following your argumentation Sony has to protect me this way, I wouldn’t mind them fulfilling at least my personal Wish List for NEX-5 Firmware 05:
1. ISO 100,
2. ISO Auto should be displayed with it’s value,
3. Noise Reduction Off as option,
4. While choosing the flash mode Softkey B should offer the Option to Flash Compensation,
5. Region Free & Slow Motion (1080/24p, 25p, 30p plus if technically possible 50p & 60p),
6. Movie Time Lapse abilities,
7. another grid option better pointing out the movie area,
8. same options as introduced with NEX-5N anyway,
9. opening the USB Port for external controls like Follow Focus (see here: http://www.vimeo.com/19341897), for Flash Sync and to use as Audio In,

9 months ago |The PEN has a small noisy m4/3 sensor. SSS is easier to implement I guess. I personally turn off IS more than I turn it on. It actually gets in the way most of the time.
Jiri
9 months ago |Well … ehm … it is even on the A900. As an older guy with more trembling hands I am enjoying th SSS on my A100 for five years already. Infact, the IS was the reason why I switched to Sony from Canon. By the way, there is a support for my attitude:
