(SR3) Multiple Sony announcements? NEX on August 28th and A99 in mid September?
Good Morning dear SAR readers!
Hope you had a nice weekend, I am back from the mountain trip and checking my mails for new rumors. One of the things I am trying to find out is the announcement date and actually it appears that Sony will have multiple announcements! One source said the NEX cameras and lenses are going to be announced on August 28th while the A99 and A-mount lenses may be announced in mid September.
I ask my sources if they can confirm or deny that circumstance. Thanks!
Another message to sources: Please be patient. I got many rumors in these last weeks but I usually try to doublecheck the info to avoid bigger mistakes. And now back to A99 and NEX rumor work….
P.S.: Remind you to join the super nice SAR community on Facebook (Click here).

Hopefully it’s a sign that the hotshoe rumour is false.

I just read an old article by a photojournal columnist about the Minolta hotshoe. He said that the Minolta hotshoe was superior to the iso hotshoe. I had read this article when it came out years ago, and I understand his point of view, as well as yours.
But while it was great twenty-four years ago when it was introduced, the ilso hotshoe is in the way of progress now. It must give way to something new.
And I expect the new hotshoe to be very new, not at all a regurgitation of the iso shoe.

10 months ago |Got money ready to throw at Sony if they pull out the 16-50 2.8 and 35mm 1.8 E mount lenses!

10 months ago |Chad,it’s not clear if the 16-50 is going to be a constant f2.8 aperture or the f3.5-5.6 pancake lens. Personally, I’m hoping for the f2.8 but I’m not sure if that will come out this year or next.
Frank
10 months ago |16-50mm f2.8 is a BIG lens. Not sure it makes sense for NEX.
Denis
10 months ago |This won’t be a big lens if sony made sensor optimized for short flange distance and then design the lens without that limitation in mind. About the size of 18-55 maximum.
Jon R
10 months ago |Frank, I was not counting on it being small. At best, it would probably be as large as the existing 18-55mm kit zoom lens and at worse it would be as large as the 16-50mm f2.8 for the A-mount.
zane
10 months ago |if the 16-50 is a constant f2.8 that would make it the ultimate “walk around” lens. In any event, it can’t be smaller than the equivalent lens that Leica/Panasonic have recently released for the micro 4/3 format which has a smaller sensor. The lens isn’t too big, but definitely not small either, but bigger that the nex 18-55mm kit lens (about double the size).
Forget about any hope of a pancake with a constant f2.8.

10 months ago |I use Alpha 16-50 f/2.8 with LA-EA1. It is a very useful combination. Unless the fstop is increased, dealing with a shorter image-register (to shorten the lens) would be more important than getting a lower circumference.

10 months ago |All the rumors I have seen here suggest the 16-50 will be a pancake style f3.5-5.6 lens, not a large f2.8 design.
If it has OIS and is fairly sharp I might buy such a lens instead of getting a RX100 for a pocket camera. But I will want to wait until it is supported in Lightroom. I suspect a thin zoom going down to 16mm will likely set a new world’s record for barrel distortion and will want to be able to correct it when shooting RAW.
Jon
10 months ago |Dave, I think people are holding out hope that the single 16-50 f2.8 rumor is true
http://www.sonyalpharumors.com/hmmm-an-impossible-lens-rumor/
For me, while I would like the size of a 16-50 3.5-5.6 pancake zoom, I would gladly take a larger 16-50 f2.8 non-pancake lens in exchange for higher image quality and a faster lens.

10 months ago |why should a website encourage facebook usage? facebook that thinks that all your data belongs them. Ever read their terms of use?

10 months ago |Facebook is not the place for you if you are averse to revealing anything about yourself. But do you really think that you are not being watched anywhere on the internet. Not that Facebook is “Lapdog for American alphabet soup agencies,” as remarked above in remarkably old-fashioned language. The enemies of privacy are world-wide.
Andrea has a SonyAlphaRumors page on Facebook that is a very useful companion to this site. Please stop bugging him about it.

10 months ago |You known what ? You can register to facebook with a pseudo. I have a FB account, but with no personal information, a false name, only my country and age are true. It’s up to YOU to reveal your life on internet or not. Facebook is just a tool, nothing else. It helps to follow news, and it’s very easy to comment on news, but once again, no one force you to use your real name, surname and reveal your bank account
And now i’m waiting for the nex(t) annoucement. NEX camera needs small, good and quite cheap lenses. My dream camera is a NEX one with samsung lenses, small body anlenses

10 months ago |It would be nice if upcoming NEXs could be triggered wirelessly via a Sony Xperia phone. Wouldn’t it be cool?
Hellven
10 months ago |it would be nice, if it would allow time laps and other stuff, but for me wired remote trigger is a must, at least on higher end models like the Nex-7… its the only reason why i didnt bought an nex-7

10 months ago |I hope Sony won’t limits the apps to there phone only, but made it for IPhone, Droid, WinPhone and even Nokia. There is so many thing that you can do on digital era, like use the phone GPS to tags your shot, comment them, do basic editing and post them on the go, backup on the cloud, send them to your friend.

10 months ago |Why not announce the A99 now, but hold some of the Specification back? That way we can stop speculating and start saving!?! I am still skeptical about this mythical A99.

10 months ago |Sony should produce their own version of Panasonic spec-heaven of a camera FZ-200: 25mm-600mm with constant f2.8 aperture. I really like the build quality of their HX megazoom series. Use the large & beautiful RX100 sensor but use a lower zoom factor of 12X (instead of 24X with the Pana). With an exceptional Macro capability, Sony would make a killing in this segment. Their RX100 has already become a perennial favorite at amazon.com.
