(SR5) Sony to announce new compact cameras at CES with 1080p60(!) recording and ultra-fast autofocus!

CES is getting closer (it starts on January 6th) so why not take a look on what’s coming from Sony? According to our sources Sony will launch a huge ammount of new compact cameras (no Alpha and no NEX). We received that small image leak that shows some f the new cameras. One camera should be the Cyber-shot DSC-HX1 successor. We were told that there will be new Bloggie cameras (with bigger screen), new 2D and 3D videocameras. They will feature some of the features Sony introduced in NEX and Alpha cameras during 2010. Sweep panorama, 3D, AVCHD recording. But there are two new features which would be very nice they would include inside the future NEX-7 and A77 cameras:
1) Those will be the very first cameras that can record 1080p60 in AVCHD!!!
2) The contrast autofocus is claimed to as fast as the autofocus from the Panasonic GH2. It can focus in 0.1 seconds!
Now that sounds very promising! Keep following SonyAlphaRumors, connect on Facebook, Twitter and follow our RSS-feed!

3 years ago |Perhaps he’s saying small sensor, so who cares. If that’s the case I somewhat agree. I’ll never buy another small sensor camera again. I also couldn’t care less about video. The only point of interest here for me is the fast autofocus claim; and that’s only because I assume they will be using the same tech in the NEX7. Speaking of, when is the 7 coming?
Also, what about new lenses? m4/3′s obviously has a much better lens line up due to the big head start, but even Samsung is leaving Sony behind now. There’s not much of a point in releasing the NEX7 with the current lens lineup. Two crappy lenses that have no chance of resolving 16+ megapixels and a superzoom won’t cut it.

3 years ago |You are saying nex-7 is imminent too? Just not in early January? Is this correct?
Could it be that next NEX cams will be nex-3 & 5 replacements plus professional video NEX? Without nex-7 ever released

3 years ago |If we don’t get an idea on Jan 6th when the a7xx is coming I’m done. Money is in hand to purchase a new Canon 7D. Sony has had more than enough time to get their s*&^$ together. They are almost 2 generations behind Canon and Nikon when it comes to prosumer models such as the D700 or the 5DMKII. D300s will be replaced next year and we don’t even know if Sony will give us a 7xx SLR. It’s unaccetable to have to wait this long. Sony if you don’t plan on providing a 7xx SLR upgrade let us know so we can move on because I’m in not interested in an SLT.

3 years ago |Don’t buy a Canon 7D. I love and have owned their full-frame DSLRs but their APS-C DSLRs suck bigtime in real life. Get the Pentax K-5. I too have been holding out for the A700 replacement (I have an A850 and sold my A700 unfortunately) but the Pentax K-5 is everything the A700 could have been but apparently will never be….

Where is the alpha news? I seriously couldn’t care less for compacts.

BUT!
Panasonic GH2 is here and no announcement about a77… I will not wait forever..

It will be the perfect family/vacation camera…capable of outstanding video and photos.

3 years ago |Any word on RAW format? So far as I can tell, none of Sony’s pocket-size compacts allows for RAW, which has made me look elsewhere.

3 years ago |I’m hoping Sony comes out with a compact Cyber-shot model with maybe a f2 lens. One W series model has a f2.4 lens and in 2000-2005 there were several models with a lens with a aperture starting at f2 (eg. DSC-S75).
As a HX1 owner, I’ll be interested in seeing what the successor to it has. Hopefully having a 24x or 30x zoom lens, backlit HDR, 3D sweep panorama for instance.
It’s been a few years since Sony’s released a RAW compact camera.

3 years ago |I hope Sony will come with a high quality pocket camera with RAW like Canon’s S95 or the LX5. It’s time for Sony to come with such a camera. Maybe they’re affraid it will affect their NEX-sales?

3 years ago |Why all the discussion about models other than those shown in the Sony advert picture?
What I see is three new models with a new 1080P HD capability and 0.1 AF and those are a 1/2.3″ compact model, and larger compact model probably LX5 sensor size, and a upgraded version of superzoom HX1.
