Will Sony delay any new product announcement?
As you know Sony halted and evacuated six factories in northeastern Japan: “The company is assessing the impact of power outages and damage to its facilities in the region, which make Blu-ray discs, magnetic heads and batteries.“ A first consequence of the earthquake is that Sony postpone indefinitely the launch of MotorStorm 3 in Japan (Source: Akihabara). Will Sony delay the announcement of the new NEX and camcorders on April4 too? Probably not because those products will be shown at the NAB show Las Vegas on April 4th and they can’t miss that. Supplying us with consumer products is way down the list of what is important to the people of Japan at this time. Japan can be given an unlimited number of Mulligans until they have a chance to heal and rebuild.

3 years ago |Isn’t the A55 “made” (i.e assembled) in Thailand? Perhaps the events in Japan will not have a great deal of impact on release dates as much of the work may be done in other countries anyway?

The best thing that can happen to Japan now is that people purchase their products and keep their economy going.

Also, it wouldn’t surprise me if production in general just takes one huge halt because of the power outages as well thanks to the reactor issues makes it impossible to really push production.
