Grab Your Sony Gear Now — Price Hikes Could Be Coming?

I just heard from a source that prices on all Sony Alpha products are going up soon. What’s not clear yet is whether this is just because the current Sony rebate campaign ends on September 15, or if it’s a permanent increase tied to tariffs.

Either way, better safe than sorry — if you’ve been eyeing a Sony camera or lens, now’s the time to grab one while the deals are still on!

Laowa has announced the release of its new AF180mm F4.5 1.5x macro autofocus lens on September 15th. It features a Canon EF SLR mount, and Canon EOS-RF users can use an EF-RF adapter to achieve autofocus. It also supports Sony E/Nikon Z mounts (autofocus) and Canon RF/Leica L mounts (manual focus). The lens weighs only about 400 grams.

First image of the new Tamron 25-200mm FE lens on the Sony

This is the first image of the upcoming new Tamron 25-200mm f/2.8-5.6 lens that will be released in autumn.

Why I am considering to buy this:

I’m a happy owner of the current 28-200mm FE. It’s far from the best lens optically, but it has one standout quality: it’s compact, lightweight, and perfect for my mountain hikes. The only thing I always wished for was a bit more range on the wide end. This new lens delivers exactly that with a far more practical 25mm starting point—while keeping the same size and weight. Tamron even claims image quality has improved!

Sure, having the 20mm from Sigma’s lens would be nice, but the 20-200mm f/3.5-6.3 lens is slower, and I suspect it won’t match Tamron in overall image quality.
