Sony surpassed Canon and Nikon in the German Full Frame market!

large_Fotomarkt_2-5d53fbaa48478033
German photo market: DSLR sales in RED. Mirrorless sales in Grey (Unit sold in tausend).

The German site Heise.de reports that Sony confirmed that in November and December they sold more Full Frame cameras than  both Nikon and Canon. Sony sold 34% of all FF cameras and surpassed Nikon and Canon for the first time.

Recently an interesting and extremely detailed analysis of the German market has been posted on MirrorlessRumors. In very short it shows that:
– The DSLR market is shrinking
– Lens sales are dropping too
– Mirrorless system camera market is slowly growing
– Action camera market is booming

Thanks Anton for sharing the Heise news!

The Sigma MC-11 lens compatibility list

SigmaMC11

Sigma’s new MC-11 adapter cost $249 and will ship in April according to BHphoto (preorder here). It costs $150 less than the Metabones and I hope it works as good or maybe even better than the Metabones. Afterall Sigma has a long history of making their AF lenses work on Canon cameras.

This is the description of the new adapter:

The Sigma MC-11 Mount Adapter enables the use of Canon EF-mount lenses on Sony E-mount mirrorless camera bodies, and maintains full lens performance, including autofocus and auto-exposure, as well as in-camera correction technologies. An integrated LED can be used to display select Sigma lens compatibility with the adapted camera body, and the adapter also supports in-camera image stabilization. In order to maintain a high degree of image quality, the interior of the adapter is flocked to reduce reflections, and it also retains full EXIF data to benefit post-production and file management.

This is the compatibility list for Sigma lenses:
