I can now confirm that Sony will soon launch the new FE 70-200 F2.8 GM OSS II lens. Possibly on October 21 along the new Sony A7IV.
This isn’t a surprise. I already wrote that Sony plans to update both GM zooms, the 24-70mm II and the 70-200mm II. What I am not sure yet is if also the 24-70mm GM II will be announced in October or if it’s going to be announced later. Hope to get info on this soon…
I got a lot of feedback after yesterdays rumor and I can now confirm with 99,999% certainty that AT LAST we will get the Sony A7IV on October 21. The announcement is expected to happen around 15-16:00 London time. Stay tuned on SAR this day as I will liveblog the event (there might be a Sony livestream video too)

The tentative date for the A7IV announcement is around October 21 (depending on time zone). I am saying “tentative” because as we saw with the ZV-E10 launch Sony can surprise us with a last minute delay :)

Kipon will soon announce a new updated version of their current Ibelux 40mm f/0,85 APS-C E lens. The lens will have improved IQ performance and a couple of image samples can be seen here:

The A7IV is going through the same painful story of the ZV-E10 release. The worldwide chip shortage makes it impossible to have release schedule. Anyway so far the A7IV should still be announced by end of October but I have been told that we still can’t be 100% sure of that.
What’s definitely likely is that the A7IV will ship out in December but not in majestic quantities. Depending on the demand some of you might have to wait til AFTER Christmas to get it.
According to Fujirumors the new Viltrox 13mm f/1.4 APS-C lenses for Fuji X and Sony E will be released in November. This will be quite an exciting and unique lens for APS-C owners. It’s very rare to get a very fast ultrawide lens!
