Sony A7IV, RX and one more camera!
Back on on September 24 a source shared to me the correct Sony A1 specs (here is the article). So now that we know he is right I can also confirm that his Sony A7V specs below might be right too. Moreover he confirmed the rumored Sony RX is indeed coming too and also another third camera….more about that soon on SAR!

Sony A7IV specs:

• A74 will have a new sensor with faster readout and will not recycle the 24 MP one. My source told me it will be in the 30-32 MP region
• The EVF will have 3,69 Mdots and not 5,76 Mdots
• Most probably the LCD will also be on the cheap side but the image quality and AF will be top notch
• The video will certainly be 4K 60p and will feature the new menus.
• The price will be in the $2499 region

Private note…burnout :(
Back in November a good friend of mine that works as a nurse in a COVID-19 unit was personally attacked on social media by negationists saying she was only acting as there was a pandemic. To help her I decided to make a short story about her. My intention was only to go at her workplace 1-2 times. But once I started people asked me to stay longer to tell their stories. I live in the middle of nowhere in the alps and no photographer or journalist never went inside their ICU station to follow their work. Since November 30 I am there 2-3 times a week. Moreover I use a lot of time to edit short movies and pictures. This is burning me out :(
The intention of my work is simple: I am not here to talk about that damn Corona or to discuss if the political and health measures are right or wrong. I am only there to talk about the people working as “Wavebreakers” inside the ICU station…to defend what should be really a common ground for society: The respect for health care workers.
This is also why the last days were a bit messy with rumors. I was in the ICU all time and working from there. So apology for the hiccups. I have a ton of videos and photos and only started very recently to tease some of these on my website andreapizzini.com, on my Instagram channel, Flickr and 500px. Feel free to follow me there!

I hope this struggle with the pandemic will get better soon (thanks to vaccines) and I can have back more time for SAR!

I am not sure what’s coming. All I know from trusted sources is that Sony has two cameras in the works. A High End E-mount camera and a new kind of RX FF camera. The past 24hours it seems a bit more likely we will get this:

• New Sony A1 High end camera
• It will be the most expensive E-mount camera yet

But unlike the previous A7c and A7sIII announcement only a handful of people know about this camera and my trusted sources preferred to not spoil info because of that. So let’s get surprised folks!

We reported about the possible name this morning and right now nokishita confirmed it: The new camera will be names “Sony A1” (ILCE-1). This means also that info is correct:

1. It’s an E-mount camera
2. It will be the most expensive E-mount camera yet
3. Crazy High ISO performance
4. It will have “one amazing spec that has not been reported or rumored”

I have got some more info from two new sources too. But keep in mind those kind of rumors can be totally wrong. So I post it for the sake of discussion :)

Newly developed sensor.
8K video recording with no overheating.
Everything about this camera is new.
Price 5,999$.

Like I said. Clue was there all along.
Still you have one amazing spec of this camera that has not been reported or rumored.

I repeat I have no clue if that last rumored spec list is correct or not!

Finally a trusted source told me at least some tidbits about the new model. He first confirmed that unlike the A9III and A7C events only a handful people of each continent knows about that model. And he can share only this:

1. It’s an E-mount camera
2. It will be the most expensive E-mount camera yet

This speaks a lot for a new A9x or A1x model. I have no idea yet what Sony means with “the one never seen”. Can means it’s a new kind of model, can mean it has a new kind of sensor….you guess!  Somebody joked: “the price never seen” :)

P.S.: The source also confirmed there is indeed a new RX camera to come…but it’s not tomorrow.

Reminder: The only message I got from a usually solid source is that he “heard” there is a new RX curved sensor camera. But he told me he is unsure if this is the camera that will be announced tomorrow or if it might be announced in another event.

The super wild rumors:
I got four anonymous messages about the new camera that Sony will announced on January 26. In all four cases these are anonymous sources that yet have no past of rumors shared correctly. So please all four sources shouldn’t be offended if I rank their rumors very low. Only if they rumor turn out to be correct I can “use” their secret nicknames they gave me to post their future rumors as solid sourced info:

Imx 435 will makes its way into the new A9 iii camera to be released tomorrow. A true hybrid powerhouse. 36mp, 8k60p, 4K 120, 30fps photos with fast AF. Hexaconversion gain allows for amazing low light ability and extremely clean imagery at most ISO’s. All conversion gain readout at base iso allows for 17+ stops of Dynamic range. Also keep in mind: All four info might as well be wrong. The trusted sources I know still didn’t spill out a single word…also because only veeeery few know about the camera and they don’t want to be spoiled.

P.S: Source 2 info really makes little sense…..$10,000 for a FF camera? On the other hand it would be “the one” in the sense of “A1” :)

Nokishita reports:

The camera to be announced tomorrow seems to be a model with the code name CX88500 (CX88200 is α9II, CX88300 is α6600, CX88400 is α6100, CX88600 is α7C, CX85000 is α7SIII).

While this might lead to believe that this is an E-mount camera we really cannot be sure of this. With “never seen” Sony really promises BIG. Technically speaking an A9III 8K camera wouldn’t be “unseen” but maybe they mean “unseen in th Alpha segment”.
