This is now seriously weird: First Sony A7sIII book on sale at Amazon Germany!

At first I thought this would be an April’s Fools Joke. But you can really preorder this book at Amazon Germany! And if that would be a joke they would have to reimburse all those who ordered the book. And if this isn’t a joke and just a guess from the authors they would get in trouble too: Just imagine people buying this book as a guide for the future A7sIII and then it turns out the real A7sIII  works not as the book says it should. And at last: the book is from serious company and from serious writers.

So honestly, this is a bit confusing…and if it’s a joke it’s a seriously good one.

(SR5) New Flagship APS-C model will be announced within 2018

The following rumors is from my very best source. The same source told me about the new 24mm f/1.4 GM lens that should be announced soon. This source now confirmed that Sony will definitely announce a new “Flagship APS-C model” in 2018.

The source did not share any details yet but I guess this camera will be named A6700 (join the facebook group here).

I hope to receive few more details about this camera soon!

What to expect next from Sony: Sony A7sIII, 24mm f/1.4 GM, 200-600mm FE G and more

This year we had a very good start with many reliable rumors coming true. Before to move on with the next set of rumors let’s make a recap about that we know and don’t know so far:

Sony A7sIII:
Sony has yet NOT registered any new camera code in Asia. This makes it completely uncertain if the camera will be announced at the NAB show in early April. From a specs point of view the A7sIII should have the same A7rIII, A7III autofocus and body improvements. With the addition of 4k60fps. Unclear what bitrate we can expect to get on the A7sIII.

Sony A77III (A-mount):
I still didn’t get a 100% confirmation this camera is coming. But there is a chance Sony could announce such a camera in May-June.

Sony A6700:
I should have some info about this soon ;)

Sony 24mm f/1.4 GM:
This lens should be announced within the next 6 months. The info comes from a top source.

Soy 200-600mm FE G:
This lens is in development and should be announced some times AFTER the 400mm f/2.8 GM

Sony 135mm FE:
This lens is on the Sony lens roadmap too. I have no info about the release date but I hope it’s coming before Photokina.

Possible surprises:
I haven’t heard about any Sony medium format camera or any other possible A9r yet. Although I didn’t get any rumors about this I think there might be a new RX100 release in June.

(SR3) Sigma 50mm 1.4 f/1.4 APS-C E-mount has 9 blades, weights less than 300g and is priced around $600.

End of 2017 Sigma did show this roadmap image teasing a new fast APS-C E-mount lens. A sources just shared the possible specs of this lens:

“Sigma 50/1.4 APS-C E-mount: 9 blades, less than 300g, around $600. Most probably around NAB 2018.”

If this rumor gets confirmed it will be definitely good news for all A5xxx-A6xxx camera owners.

(SR1) Crazy fun rumors: Sony As7III with 15 Megapixel organic sensor

sony-a7III

Sometimes I receive crazy rumors they are worth to be posted for the sake of clickbait, discussion and fun. Before you read it a warning: This is not a rumor coming from trusted sources and it also “smells” like this is untrue. But it happens 1 time out of 10 that these crazy rumors get true so let’s have some fun today:

Sony A7sIII
organic sensor with 15.4 mpx and an iso range (32 to 1.638.400) to destroy the competition. the organic sensor was set to be part of the fourth gen of the A7 line.
the A7r3 out perform d850 and 5d m4.
Same thing with the A7 iii vs 6d2.
however with the original A7s iii sony has struggled to outperform or at least to match the panasonics that’s why they decided to bring some specs from the A7s 4 and the sensor is one of those.

Would certainly love the A7sIIi having a completely new kiond of sensor. But I suspect that source only had a nice dream :)

Now what we know for sure about the A7sIII:
Sony has yet not registered any new camera code in Asia. It could mean the A7sIII might NOT be announced soon. Expect same A7rIII body improvements and 4k60fps video recording.

Notes on those kind of (im-)possible rumors:

  • Fake rumors sent by so claimed sources that are known to create fake rumors are NOT included. What you see here are messages I got from unknown sources where I have no track of any “rumor history”
  • It’s by readers request that I create this sum up of low ranked rumors. But please remind all that these are not rumors from trusted sources and don’t count me accountable on those kind of very low ranked rumors :)
  • The last year a couple of those “impossible” rumors were right (RX1rII and A6300 specs). So miracles sometimes can happen :)

Sony a7S III Predictions by Jason Vong

I know many SAR readers are awaiting to get their hands on the new Sony A7sIII. But first the bad news upfront: Sony has yet NOT registered any new camera code in Asia. Which means it’s likely there is no imminent camera announcement. And with the recent Sony A7III announcement Sony managers might prefer to wait with the A7sIII launch until the A7III buzz is over.

Still let’s hope that Sony will surprises us and release the Sony A7sIII at the NAB show in April. It’s easy to guess that the A7sIII camera will have the same A9A7rIIIA7III body improvements and possibly 4K 60p.

Jason Vong summed up his A7sIII predictions in this video:
