ePhotozine tested the new Samyang 50mm f/1.2 lens on the Sony A6000:
Samyang are to be congratulated on a very interesting and relatively inexpensive lens. Sacrifices are made in terms of handling and convenience, but the results are there for the taking and with practice the success rate will definitely improve. An excellent lens for anyone who wants to work totally manually and is prepared to make the necessary effort. The reward will be some very fine images.
DearSusans had a short Loxia 21mm hands-on test at Salon de La Photo:
Wow! Great detail, great sharpness, and absolutely not clinical! remarkable short-range performance. This lens puts paid to the theory that you can’t design a great wide angle that is small and light for the Sony A7.

The Video Mode: “We’ve just interviewed Daniel Kleinman. He is the man responsible for the opening credits of the recent Bond films (all but one since Golden Eye), including the latest, SPECTRE. He also shot the current Sony ‘Made For Bond’ TV advert, which features the RX100 IV and Naomie Harris as Moneypenny.
Anyway, we have interviewed him about how he shot the commercial and also a little bit about why he used the Sony F65 to shoot it with (mechanical shutter, great skin tones and footage looks close to film). http://www.thevideomode.com/news/daniel-kleinman-shooting-sony-made-bond-advert-using-f65-1591/”
Florian: “I’ve just released the second part of my series “Urban Conformation”: Urban Conformation 74:19. I’ve created a parallel universe where time and space have been deformed. It has been shot with an A99. http://vimeo.com/florianrouzaudcornabas/urbanconformation7419”
Hyatt: “Alec Soth wants to repurpose a used RV to create an art school on wheels based in Minneapolis, MN, that pairs artists with teens to reshape how art is taught. Along with Soth, local artists, teachers, and other mentors will show teens how they can venture out into the world and creatively engage with the people and places around them. In each area they visit, the group will create public pop-up events such as slideshows of the students’ work projected on the side of the RV, demonstrating how the teens can give back to their communities through storytelling. The Sony E-mount FS series is having a huge success among filmmakers. And this certainly helps to make the E-mount system as a whole even more popular. So let’s hope the following rumor turns out to be true:
A source told me Sony is developing an Internal Compressed raw set of codecs which will be released when the FS5 gets its (most probably paid) update. An internal raw would be huge for these cameras. He called it “FS Raw”.
This would certainly be a big news! And it would be even more impressive if it could be added on the A7sII too. But honestly I really think that’s just me dreaming. Don’t think the A7sII hardware could even handle this…
And if you have some “rumor” to share just send me an anonymous messages here:

Another rendring of a high end A9 DSLR alike camera (SonyAlphaForum).
A few days ago I told that trusted sources told me that Sony is about to announce a new High End camera. But other than that I have no reliable info about the possible specs of it. In those last couple of days I got some info from anonymous sources which I think are at 99% wrong. But I figured that you might want to read what I got in my mail box. Maybe a miracle will happen and one of those will get true one day :)
Anonymous Source 1:
I wanted to tell you that I saw a new mounting system on a lens. It was not A or E mount nor Nikon or Canon but advertised as for Sony. Judging from the specs of the lens it is for Full Frame 35mm, but a pinch smaller. The engineers told me they can not disclose what for it is…
Anonymous Source 2:
8k video recording with 32 mega pixel still shot from each frame. Native iso below 50. Instant connectivity via wifi & Bluetooth to most popular phone apps, Apple and Android. Flexible touch screen. Super hi Rez EVF, higher beyond A7ri Minimum 100 mega pixel. Built in 1trb flash storage with usb3 & C output More to follow.
Anonymous Source 3:
You are close … Just Not A mount , E mount And the Key is true 16 bit ? Massive Picture quality increase. N+C don’t expect it…
Anonymous Source 4:
I believe there will be a CML (compact mirror less) “A9” or “A7-Pro” with BSI 56-58 Mp (effective) in appr.late November. Also a mirror less A 99 II with same BSI sensor 56-58 Mp. OLED-EVF! In spring 2016 an A 88 II, equiv to Pentax K 1 FF, will appear. Same BSI sensor but scaled down to 42 or 36 Mp. Sony now uses only two FF sensors – one BSI appr 60 Mp, one FSI appr 50 Mp. All FF cameras are scaled from those.
Anonymous Source 5:
The new secret weapon camera to be unleashed is a medium format Rx style camera with changeable lenses and evf. It comes with the Sony 50 Mp backlit sensor and instead of zooms it will have a 50mm, 80mm and 150mm primes. It is aimed at landscape artists. A new 55mm lens is also being made which will have tilt/shift to facilitate architectural photography which requires a high format and tabletop photos for ads.

It only rarely happens that anonymous sources are spot on with rumors. Last time this happened was in January when a source shared the Zeiss Batis lens specs. id dint’ belive him…but at the end he was 100% spot on!
