The first set of (probably incorrect) specifications for the Sony A7rVI is making the rounds on the web.

Share

Multiple accounts shared those Sony A7rVI specs that I think are NOT reliable:

  • 80MP Full-Stacked Sensor: Features 80M effective pixels, representing a massive resolution jump for the series.
  • 16+ Stop Dynamic Range: Delivers 16+ stops of dynamic range when using the mechanical shutter; dynamic range with the electronic shutter also exceeds the A7R V.
  • BIONZ XR2 Processor: Equipped with the next-generation processing engine for significantly faster data throughput.
  • 8.5-Stop Image Stabilisation: Advanced in-body stabilization system providing up to 8.5 stops of compensation.
  • 30fps 14-bit RAW Burst: Supports continuous shooting at 30fps with AE/AF tracking at 60fps (includes RAW pre-capture functionality).
  • High-Resolution Video: Supports 8K30p (oversampled from 10.9K full-frame), 4K60p (oversampled from 7.1K APS-C), and 4K120p (5.5K pixel-binning).
  • Enhanced Display: Features a screen with 50% higher maximum brightness than the A1 II and a higher pixel count than the A7 V.
  • Redesigned Ergonomics: Adopts the deeper, more comfortable handle and grip design found on the Alpha 1 II.
  • Electronic Shutter Speed: Faster readout than the A7R V, though technically rated at approximately one-third the speed of the A1 II.
  • Composite Shooting Modes: Includes 16-frame high-resolution composite shooting and up to 32-frame noise-reduced composite shooting.
  • Video Limitations: Does not support “Open Gate” recording, internal RAW video, or 6K HEVC formats.
  • Performance Context: Positioned as a major generational leap over the Sony A7 V, mirroring the significant gap seen between the A7 III and A7R III.
  • Release Timeline: Currently in small-scale testing; set for official release before November 2026.

Maximize Your Sony Footage & Photo Quality for Superior Content Creation with VideoProc Converter AI

Sony Alpha cameras are legendary imaging powerhouses, but even great gear has limits in real-world shooting. Noise in low light, resolution drops in Super 35 crop mode, and micro jitters from handheld B-roll can make post-production challenging. Most NLEs offer tools to fix these issues, but heavy manual tweaking often delivers mixed results and strains your hardware. That’s why I use VideoProc Converter AI as a prep and enhancement tool. It cleans, deblurs, denoises, and stabilizes my clips before editing, lets me apply quick adjustments when needed, and post-processes the final output, ensuring every shot is cleaner, steadier, and fully 4K-ready before it hits the timeline or is shared.

Weirdly conflicting rumors about two new Sigma lenses…no 85mm???

Share

Recently I told you that one of my long time Sigma sources heard about a new 85mm f/1.2 Full Frame lens coming in late February. But now two different NEW sources told me something completely different

New source 1:

I know from a reliable source that the upcoming Sigma lenses won’t include an 85mm f/1.2 for E-Mount

New source 2:

There will be no 85mm f1.2 by sigma this month. There will be 2 other lenses but no 85mm. one of them is a version 2.

My trusted source is now double checking his information source and I hope I can get a confirmation or correction soon. If you have an info about this drop me a message at sonyalpharumors@gmail.com or use this contact box. Thanks!
