Surprise: Venus Optics will soon announce this new 200mm f/2.0 FE lens!
I already told you that Sigma will announce a new FE 200mm f/2.0 lens on August 19. But there’s a curious surprise: Venus Optics will also soon announce a new FE 200mm f/2.0 lens, and we already have a picture of it!
Laowa 200mm f/2.0 specs:
- Full Frame autofocus lens
- Less than 1,6kg
- Sony E, Nikon Z, Canon EF and future Fuji X and GFX mount versions coming
There is no information on the price yet, but I’m sure it will cost less than the Sigma, although I expect the Sigma lens to be optically superior.
Becca Farsace believes Sony missed the mark on the storytelling behind the RX1R III.

Also Becca Farsace published the camera review and she thinks “$ony got the story wrong…”
Curiosity: Zach Mayfield published the review of the ten year old RX1rII.
Sony RX1rIII gets the Gold Award at Dpreview: “hard to think of a photographers’ compact that takes better images so readily”
Sony RX1rIII in Stock at BHphoto, Amazon, Adorama, Fotokoch, Fotoerhardt, Calumet, WexUK.
Dpreview published the full Sony RX1rIII review and concluded:
The RX1R III is the smallest full-frame camera on the market. It features a 35mm F2 lens that can be a touch soft at wide apertures but delivers the full resolution when stopped down. Its autofocus is best in class, in terms of speed and dependability. It’s an expensive camera and there are cheaper models with more features, but it’s hard to think of a photographers’ compact that takes better images so readily.
And this is the new review from Chelsea Northrup:
