Sony α7R III A has been officially discontinued in Japan
Asobinet reports that Japanese stores discontinued the A7rIIIA. There are still cameras in Stock at Amazon US&EU and BHphoto. But I guess the stock is limited and will dry out soon.

First reviews of the new Tamron 70-180mm II lens
The preorders are now open at BHphoto, Adorama, Amazon, FotoErhardt, Fotokoch, WexUK.
SonyAlphaBlog reviewed the new lens and concluded:
The Tamron 70-180mm F2.8 Di III VC VXD G2 (1500 euros) is a clear step up compared to the Tamron 70-180mm F2.8 Di III VXD (1200 euros) with improved sharpness, improved ergonomics and build quality. Unfortunately the AF has not drastically improved and is still well behind the Sony GM especially for sports
Dustin Abbott also tested the lens and concluded:
So is it worth buying? From a value perspective, absolutely. It’s not quite at the GM II level on any level other than sharpness, but it’s not far behind in most categories. I would also say that it is worth upgrading if you can get decent value from your G1 lens. The Tamron 70-180mm G2 is a lot of lens for the $1299 USD price point, and the range of improvements is pretty much across the board. Sony shooters are once again the winner, as we are getting ever improving options from Sony and the various third parties who develop for E-mount.
Samyang might soon announce a new 16-35mm FE lens?
One source heard a “whisper” about a possible Samyang 16-35mm FE announcement. This would be a sort of way more affordable alternative to the newly announced 16-35GMII. The source itself wasn’t 100% sure about this yet but he will let me know once he gets a final confirmation…
Something else: My source confirmed the Nikon ZF is coming on Sept 20. And yesterday Black magic announced a new Full Frame L-mount cine camera that is super cool! More about that in my latest video:
Amazon seller account was “hacked” and the Sony A7cII was selling with a false 1.000 Euro discount
A reader told me that it’s highly likely an Amazon’s Germany sellers account was “hacked” so that all his gear was listed with a big discount. The A7cII for example was selling for 1400 Euro only. I am not going to link to the page and if you have preordered an A7cII for that price please do CANCEL your order.

Additional notes:
– The seller itself has super high rating. So don’t blame him!
– Weirdly enough also Amazon US lately had $300 discounts on the A7cII for a very short time time (and this comes directly via Amazon itself).
