Sony financial report: Great camera sales!

Share

Sony published the latest financial report. The camera business falls within the Enterntainment/Technology/Services segment. And about that Sony writes:

Results for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2023 Sales increased 136.8 billion yen (6%) year-on-year to 2 trillion 476.0 billion yen (a 4% decrease on a constant currency basis). This increase in sales was primarily due to the impact of foreign exchange rates as well as an increase in sales of digital cameras resulting from higher unit sales, partially offset by a decrease in sales of televisions resulting from lower unit sales. Operating income decreased 33.5 billion yen year-on-year to 179.5 billion yen. This decrease in operating income was mainly due to the impact of the above-mentioned decrease in sales of televisions, partially offset by the impact of the above-mentioned increase in sales of digital cameras. During the current fiscal year, there was a 9.4 billion yen positive impact from foreign exchange rate fluctuations.

So the camera business is doing extremely well. Interestingly enough my sources a couple of days ago told me Sony would push on the camera business to offset declining TV sales. This report seems to indicate he was right!

Let’s dig into the specs of this new Xperia I V dual layer sensor that surely will find it’s way in future professional E-mount cameras too!

Share

On May 11 Sony will announce the Xperia I V. I really don’t care much about smartphones but the ONE interesting new feature is the world’s first dual layer sensor camera. This tech might find it’s use on future Sony E-mount cameras too. In my video I will explain in simple terms what’s so special about this.

In short: Imaging having current (expensive) medium format quality on Full Frame cameras!

NOTE: As I was just reading a physics text I made a Lapsus and in the video I kept saying electrons instead of photons :)

HOT: The incredible reason why Sony decided NOT to update the A1 and A7sIII with new features!!!

Share

Watch the video to learn about the incredibly STUPID reason why your A1 and A7sIII cameras are not getting software updates like anamorphic desqueeze, lens breathing compensation and so forth. And if you agree with my message in the video please share it, like it and subscribe my channel. Because I am sure Sony will NOTICE this!

Funny thought: If the A7sIII would be renamed “FXsIII” it would have already gotten all new features via firmware update!

First Sony A6700 rumored specs

Share

By end of May Sony will announce a new ZV1 successor. But you will not have to wait long time to see the new High End APS-C camera announcement.

TRUSTED sources told us the new High End camera will start shipping out in August. Announcement will obviously happen before that.

TWO NEW sources shared following info on this camera:

  • Name: a6700
  • Sensor: 26mp (same FX30 sensor).
  • IBIS: 7 stops
  • Ai processor (same Sony ZV-E1 processor)
  • 4k120 (1.19 crop)
  • The body will be a new design. It will still have the evf on the left, but it will have a scroll wheel on the front under the shutter button. The grip is redesigned and  more ergonomic. The body will be about 3mm deeper and 4mm taller.
  • Announcement date: beginning of July.

I am yet not 100% sure if those specs are correct, hope trusted sources will give me their feedback after reading this post. But to me those specs sound very reasonable and I explain you in my latest video why these might be correct:
