ProAV had a very interesting live chat with a Sony manager. And he spilled a lot of details about the Sony A7V I didn’t know yet.
- Anti Aliasing filter: Sony dind’t unveil anything about this but the manager makes it clear there is one (at around minute 14)
- 6G Wifi: it’s double the speed of 5G and in theory makes the connection with smartphones faster and more stable (minute 19)
- Wildlife: This is for the first time an “entry” level A7 series camera is well suited for wildlife photographers (minute 22)
- New processor: it is 8 times more powerful than the one on the A7IV (minute 28)
- We are listening: Sony executive emphasized they’re actively listening to Sony A7V user feedback and will incorporate it into upcoming firmware updates (minute 29)
- Missing XAVC HS 30p: The Sony manager said “we have fed that request back to Sony Tokyo” (minute 30)
- Noise cancellation: This is the first Alpha camera with built.in audio noise cancellation (minute 34)
- No Open Gate: this is a hybrid camera, this can shoot 30fps without black out, 14 bit raw in mechanical and electronic, it’s about “finding the balance” and it’s not a feature of THIS sensor (minute 42)
- Dual Base ISO: he says Sony has no “official” statement about Dual Base ISO :) ProAv guy says he tested it and there is a slight reduction of noise reduction at ISO 8000 (minute 47)
- No internal RAW: the manager can’t answer why Sony has no internal RAW recording…but says that Sony is very good in spotting trends…so who knows (minute 49)
- No info about the A7sIV: the manager cannot answer if there will be a future Sony A7sIV (minute 52)
- New AI Extended RAW: Sony uses their own library they used on their TV’s to do “extended RAW” AI upscaling on (minute 54)
- Third aprty lens compatibility: We do not test our cameras with third party lenses or any of the many third pastry accessories (minute 57)
