Last minute info: announcement tomorrow 4am London time?
The little confusion on the Sony A58 and NEX-3n announcement date continues. I just got a short notice that Sony have sent out two different announcement dates. One for Monday the 25th and one for tomorrow (Feb 20th) at 4am London time. I am not sure why the heck they sent out two different dates. In any case if you don’t live in London this means:
5am in the morning Berlin time zone.
11pm (23:00) in New York today (Feb 19th)
8pm (20:00) in San Francisco today (Feb 19th)
1pm (13:00) in Tokyo (Feb 20th).
if you can be online by 4am in the morning (UK time) on SonyAlphaRumors.com. I will be here to give you live updates on all new Sony cameras if there is one
Again, there seems to be a confusion around the announcement date and the cause seems to be Sony itself. So I don’t know if all cameras or no cameras or just one of the two cameras will be announced tonight or on Monday.
UPDATE: Another source told me the announcement is tomorrow while there seems that other countries got another announcement date.

4 months ago |Can someone tell me the typical turnaround time for Sony when it comes to announcing an alpha, to actual release? I’m really excited for the A58,and want to know just how long I should expect to wait even if they announce tomorrow or in the next few days. I should at least be able to pre order soon right?
Bill
4 months ago |When the NEX 7 and A77 came out the wait was many months. I think with the A57 and some of the NEX announcements it was closer to 2 to 6 weeks, the releases being staggered to different countries.
Sythrix
4 months ago |Thank you, hopefully the wait won’t be months. Every company needs to be mindful of the Osborn effect. Not as extreme in the case of a few months, but Sony isn’t exactly in a position to be throwing away sales, even if it is a shorter duration than Osborn. If I were them, I would follow other examples in the electronics industry of a mere 1 – 2 weeks at most before shipment after announcement. Anticipation is all well and good, but I started that a while ago, and I’m ready to get my camera and start buying lenses. The OLED viewfinder is what swayed me over Canikon
Honestly, I might be new to photography, but why in the world wouldn’t you want one? Manual focus is vastly superior with peaking and In-viewfinder zoom, and resolution is almost negligible in difference as far as what your eye can actually resolve. I understand there are concerns with sports photography, but for the most part I only see benefits.

If spec rumors are correct and DpReview and DXOMark back it up in their tests – shut up and take my money!

Raj
4 months ago |I don’t know Admin. It makes sense in many ways (unless, Sony decides to spread their butter very thin across two mounts).
I was skeptical of the SLT line anyway and since Sony has struck pay-dirt with e mount, I expect them to capitalize on this. Given the earlier rumor from SAR that Sony has ramped up the FF NEX at the expense of A Mount FF, this all comes together now.
Maybe tomorrow’s announcement is to get whatever final prototype they had on the A mount and the final set of A lenses out. I know this will be bad news for the existing A mount users with lot of investment but makes business sense from Sony’s perspective.

4 months ago |That site is trash. How in earth does it make sense to you?! He calls the NEX-3N, which already has clear pictures leaked on sonyalpharumors, for the NEX-F3R!!! Its written with the help of his free flowing imagination.
Raj
4 months ago |Can you read a bit carefully? He says NEX-F3R (successor to the current NEX-F3) will be announced a month later, which is April.
I don’t know about that site and how much closer it’s to the truth. Heck, aren’t all of these sites, including my beloved SAR, speculation at this point anyways?
Sky_walker
4 months ago |Spaceman is right. This site is full of garbage. Don’t bother with anything that’s published there. So far there have been next to none “rumors” or “news” they posted that become true. Even some of chinese websites are more reliable.
Sky_walker
4 months ago |Oh, never mind, I just mixed it up with another garbage website. This one is good, but the “news” comes from Nippon Camera magazine which, as said, didn’t included even A58 so… nothing to bother anyway. Move along, move along.
Beachrider
4 months ago |I like NEX, as well. I just think that the SLT might be retained for AF reasons. You can certainly put small PDAF sites on the sensor. It just displaces real-sensor sites. If you want a BIG PDAF cross in the middle of the picture, you would displace a substantial number of sensor-sites. That might be problematic, for some time.
Funny
4 months ago |Well that site stated the rumors only for 2013 calendar year, nothing for 2014. That’s make sense. But they might miss the successor for a77 and a65. It’s pretty clear there won’t be an A9x or A1x coz a99 just released less than 5 months ago.
Beachrider
4 months ago |Photoclubalpha uses very odd terminology:
“a 20-megapixel revision of the 57 which is not expected to make any significant difference to the choices for DSLR/SLT system owners”
Why the adverse pejorative statement? I hope that it isn’t some dumb spinning…
Sky_walker
4 months ago |Yes, it is dumb spinning. Author just tries to prevent this website from death by posting some supposed “revelations”. Don’t link or visit this garbage. Let this site die alone.
Sky_walker
4 months ago |Hehe, actually I was thinking about different site. This one is good, but the article is rather poor, clearly tries to lure people by catchy header and some random garbage from japanese magazine “predictions”. So nothing to bother anyway.
Almazar80
4 months ago |David Kilpatrick knows a lot more about cameras and photography than most people in this site.

4 months ago |Here’s the image of the Nippon Camera article that was quoted in another site – http://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-news-rumors/215985-new-pentax-cameras-2013-a.html
I don’t know how legit Nippon Camera information are but shows a nice tabular structure of monthly releases from Canon, Nikon, Pentax and SONY (only NEX).
Sky_walker
4 months ago |These are just random predictions that don’t have anything to deal with reality. I could make a table like that myself and post it here (only I wouldn’t use “NEX-9″ designation for the FF model). Nothing of real value.
Raj
4 months ago |You can except few of these rumors have been circulating / confirmed on other sites as well (Nex-7 successor, D7100, 70D in various other rumor sites).
Like I said, I don’t follow Japanese Camera magazines. So, it’s what it’s and just a rumor at this point (remember, even Nikon Rumors was expecting D400 to show up last year but it ended up being D600).
Steve
4 months ago |Well, if all else fails it looks like we have a Nikon D4x and a Canon 3D to choose from if Sony fails to provide a new full-frame
Raj
4 months ago |Well, even if Sony provides a FF, it will suffer from lack of lenses
.
If I groom my sensor cleaning skills, I can get a refurbished D600 for real cheap. LOL.
Steve
4 months ago |But the lens Sony puts on the market will be the most expensive ever made it their class.
$1,500 50/1.5, $3,000 70-400/4.5-5.6 and when the replacement of the 70-200/f2.8 comes out ……$3,500 ????
All I can say is they better be darn good
Ncguy
4 months ago |I guess given the price of the other primes, the price of the 50mm was to be expected. I can’t wait to see image samples. Also curious how much better the announced 55mm 1.4 Zeiss for Canikon is versus this lens.
Almazar80
4 months ago |What lenses do you want? Some great professionals use Sony FF equipment. Sometimes, it is not the equipment that is inadequate.
Catoctin
4 months ago |I’m very curious when a new flash that works with the .iso hotshoe as found on the NEX-6 will be announced. I want something in the $80-$200 range that doesn’t need the adapter and is native. Any word on that?
Catoctin
4 months ago |I’d even go as high as $300 if it was small and a perfect match for NEX-6
Steve
4 months ago |Several tech websites are writing about the new PS4 code name Orbis that’s going to be anounced tomorrow.
Is Sony really going to do both at the same event?
