List of new Sony Cybershot compact cameras (no NEX-SLT announcement yet).
As expected Sony will not announce any NEX or SLT camera yet. This is the list of compact cameras that will be announced for the CES show that starts on Monday:
- DSC-H200: 20MP, 26x zoom
- DSC-W710: 16MP, 5x zoom
- DSC-W730: 16MP, 8x zoom
- DSC-TF1: rugged, 16MP, 4x zoom
- WX80: 20MP, 8x zoom, Wi-Fi
- Sony will announce also a dozen of new camcorders and some new accessories
But as I told you before major NEX and SLt announcements may be made in a few weeks from now for the CP+ show in Japan!

5 months ago |I’d expect 1/2.3″ sensors, one of the 20MP ones is a superzoom which certainly will by about that size, the other models also looks to be typical 1/2-3 inch models.

5 months ago |Stop whining. We already know they’re working on some high-end stuff. They’ll announce it when they’re ready. Maybe Sony should shut down all their TV, computer, etc development just so you can have your lenses. Great idea…

5 months ago |I’ve invested $14000+ in Sony Camera equipment and another $5000+ in other Sony products. I can bitch all I want. They can choose to listen or they can choose for me to spend my next $19000+ elsewhere. I am sure it is pennies on the dollar compared to the billions they are losing every quarter, but maybe they are losing money for a reason. And maybe that reason is they’re not appeasing loyal customers.

I’m in the same boat.
I’ve got a tonne invested in A-Mount lenses too. I’m basically running my entire business on the A-Mount. And apart from wishing that there’d be another optical viewfinder A-Mount camera somewhere down the pipeline (for when my A900/A850′s shutters eventually fail), I’d also be keen to see Zeiss design a “Sigma Art series killer” 35mm 1.4 SSM. And a Zeiss 24mm 1.4 SSM would be welcome too.
Oh Sony.

5 months ago |Best advice is to sell your stuff and move to Canon or nikon..why? because theyre established, they care about their customers needs, entry, enthusiast or pro. Sony is doing what Minolta has been doing for years. i got a pile of maxxum lenses too, and from what I seen so far, I many never get a Sony. Just like Minolta, they have no wish to fight for 1st place, they are content to tell you what you need, sell comparable cameras and lenses for higher price and expect you to buy. MinoltaSonys motto is, buy our stuff cause thats good enough.It worked so well for Minolta they imploded.
The Sony 70-200 2.8 is around 2k. The Canon L equivelent is 1300. Enough said, do you or anyone think that the MinoltaSony lens is 700 better? They seem to think so, thats the tip of the ice berg. The Minolta hotshoe, so good no one likes it, they finally got rid of it after how many years? MinoltaSony dont listen to their customers, many if not all have left. Why have loyalty to a brand that has no loyalty to you? now theyre talking about FF nex and rx1 yada yada. Alwyas about gimmicks and fixing things that aint broke, year after year, they try to reinvent the wheel while Canikon just make better cmaeras. Get out while you still can…before sony A implodes. You cant have security if the system is dying.

And your $19000 would not make your bitch and moan any more valid. I’m happy with my NEX-7 as well as my D800. I have high hope for Sony to release a competent FF NEX. In the mean time, I will buy what I can afford and shoot the hell out of it instead of bitching and moaning.

People forget that you dont need a gazilion lenses to work.
Minolta and sonys lenses are fine and no one can argue with that.
Additionally, other constructor are releasing nearly all their models for all mounts.
Sony cameras are good and have always been – all of them are competitive models.
tehre really is no better brands, maybe there are more models to suits one’s need with other brand but people who are happy with their original choice are the ones who chose wisely from the start!
If I had to chose with other brand right now i would not be able to make a choice! i’d probably go pentax

5 months ago |I don’t care for the rest of the list besides the TF1.
Since a while I’m looking for a reasonably usable “fun-camera” I can take with me to the beach or on boat adventures during my holidays.
There were some nice concepts with the former TX5/10/20, but the limitations in IQ and camera operating point of view weighted too much to go and buy it.
So I’m very interested if Sony listened to its customers and designed a camera that does the job better than its predecessors.

APS-C = 360 square mm
So it will be 257 megapixel

Same pixel pitch as those new 20mp 1/2.3″ sensors then APS-C will have 257mpx
and FF sensor will have 614mpx

I only hope Sony would revive the F-series zooms with the modern 2/3″ sensor technologies and other improvements…
And more importantly, Sony should really stop providing regional video system on its camera models… and instead provide universal 50i/60i video support on every model around the globe (like on other non-AVCHD camera models).

5 months ago |Although Andrea has made it clear that Sony’s Alpha and E mount announcements are due to start in a few weeks (with the CP Plus show), and with CES usually reserved for announcing P&S models (for many manufacturers), it is still amazing to me that people take every opportunity to opine negatively. Some people need to complain, other people just get their work done.

5 months ago |Well, if Sony only announces Alpha and E mount stuff in Japan that does say something about which market they are paying attention to on that part of their camera production. They are not thinking world market if that continues as it has recently. Better speak Japanese and post in Japanese forums if you want to influence what Sony will do.
