New Cine lenses from Samyang for Alpha mount (and New PMW-200).

We have now some new products to show you today. First, we had that Sony PRO announcement tonight. We have the new PMW-200 that is neither an Alpha nor an E-mount camera. And than Samyang-Rokinon unveiled via facebook page that the: “Rokinon 35mm T1.5 cine lens will be available in U.S in few weeks and Rokinon 24mm T1.5 & 14mm T3.1 cine lens will be available in U.S in September.” They will come in Alpha mount too!

10 months ago |R they the one with the ridiculous price or not?. No pro consumer or enthusiast gonna afford them. I don’t think its even an excuse for a professional shooter. If u were professional and ur work depends on top glass. By all means buy a full frame camera (I like the video on the mark III more than the D800). We need affordable glass all the way to a 1000 USD is as far we we can go.

10 months ago |You might be thinking of Schneider.
Rokinon/Samyang usually are on the cheap side.

10 months ago |Exactly! It will be interesting to see how expensive/cheap these lenses will be though…. Doubt its going to be as cheap as my Sammy 85mm 1.4 – £160 brand new & a cracking bit of glass!

10 months ago |Even cheaper; the photographic lenses that the cine lenses are based off of.

if Sony will do this right – it might be one of most interesting lenses series for A99 video mode.

10 months ago |If the 35mm T1.5 is not as humongous as their 35mm 1.4, I’d be very happy .. If it’s priced likewise (which I’m not sure of)

10 months ago |may I ask what is this “CINE” lens? What is the difference with a regular type of lens?

10 months ago |clickless means that you can smoothly change aperture instead of usual clicks / jumps between pre-defined values. Thanks to this you can extend or contract depth of field without being worried much about exposition having jumpy changes.
Cine lens means “cinematic”. Made for video – besides being clickless it got support for follow-focus mechanism and gear on aperture control ring for more smooth operations.

10 months ago |I might be wrong, but I think one major aspect is that the aperture can be set continuously without the usual distinct steps (clicklessly without making sounds).
And then, as you can se, the cog-wheel-like rubber rings around which corresponding belts can be fitted and controlled by turning a control wheel in a cinema rig.
Sorry about the swenglish language here, hope you understand.

10 months ago |Yarg… that 14mm looks cute, too bad it will grow unwieldy with an adapter on e mount. I would really love to see these lenses in a native e-mount.

10 months ago |I wasn’t expecting a tiny, E-mount version, of 8mm fisheye that Samyang delivered recently. I’m glad to have been confused long enough to wait for it. The fisheye is heavier but shorter (with its hood on) than the kit 18-55 zoom without its hood on. That makes for a compact combination. So, I won’t be surprised if an E-mount 14mm is in the future, or even a 24mm. Samyang is working hard, and delivering good glass.
