NEX-7 shipment date now 30/11 at Sonystyle Canada (A77 will be back in Stock in 3-4 weeks!)

Our reader “Alper” noticed that Sonystyle Canada displays a new shipment date for the NEX-7. It now says it will ship on November 30 (before it was mid November) and that “this item is backorderable“. Check your Sony store if they will change the shipment date.
A source contacted me to say that “the Sony A77 bodies and kits will be arriving in stock in 3-4 weeks. I clarified that the cameras arriving were not to fill pre-orders and they confirmed this.“. That’s good news! Thanks source

2 years ago |Not true. All NEX an ALFA camera are made in the same factory in Thailand which is submerged. The models in the list are the one which were supposed to be released soon (so not yet available) at least in Japan. A77 was already released so there is stock at least for some time. See that NEX5N in anouncement is the kit with 2 lenses, which is not available in stores, not the one with 1 kit lens for which there is stock.
Ken
2 years ago |I see what you’re saying… because they ALL come out of the same factory. But if you take what I said and what YOU said… my statement is still true. The flood did NOT affect the production of the a77 (because they were already made BEFORE the flood).
Zstan
2 years ago |Yeah the flood did not affect the production but it affected the logistics badly.
JonasM
2 years ago |Err? Of course it affects the production of A77 or you think Sony only planned to make a thousand of them and then discontinue the camera? Yes, they made a few, but they are making no more for the time being.

2 years ago |I was at the Henry’s Exposure Show the past weekend near Toronto, and tried the Sony NEX 7. We couldn’t put a card in to test out the image, but the camera itself feels amazingly comfortable. Very fast focusing and shutter release. Burst mode in this camera is absolutely phenomenally fast, even though it was a demo. Can’t wait for mine to come in.
Please SONY more lens!!! Copy any Voigtlander or Leica lens or even Pentax pancake lens….

2 years ago |Oh oh, I wonder if it’s too late to preorder from Sony.

2 years ago |Quess I should have preordered mine through the Sony Store and
not Amazon. Sony will fill there preorders from their own store
and the rest of us preorders will just have to wait
Ken
2 years ago |I’m not sure if that’s necessarily true. I’ve read about people finding a77s in random stores/sites like Cructhfield. Supposedly, earlier today, they had 10 in stock… someone posted a thread in dpreview’s forum, and now they’re all gone.

2 years ago |It’s not that simple. Sony can’t simply prefer merchandise to its own outlet over its other retailers. That would likely not only cause major backlash, but is probably against distribution contracts.
While Sonystyle may be a preferred retailer, I’m sure there are plenty of other preferred retailers equally as important. One thing you never want to do is p*#&@ off your retailers by competing directly against them.

2 years ago |Any news about A65, I could technically get one here in China but I prefer the cheaper US version, its almost $1000 just for the body here!
Eugene Stoesser
2 years ago |I’ll also get an S99 FF when they come out, but I’m not going to preorder. Like you just said ken. I can buy one from another store or online maybe 3-4 weeks before my preorder would arrive
Great marketing.

2 years ago |Order when you can you may get a surprise. In UK I ordered an A77 from Local Sony Centre via Sony(UK) web site 3 pm Yesterday(Thu 20th). the Site said available mid November. 2-4 weeks delivery and I took free postage (3-5 days) instead of fast. It was delivered 10-30am this Morning(Fri 21ST). Less than 20 hours delivery time. Now that is service. I only paid £1299.99 with kit lens and of coarse its version 1.03 If I had got a Nikon the equivalent Lens would have cost almost as much. A Canon 60D with Canon 17-55/F2.8 costs £1599.99 in Local Dealer or £300 dearer than My kit.

2 years ago |Now that’s service. To bad we don’t get service like that here in the USA! I’m thinking of cancelling my preorder and buying elsewhere like you did( I’m still getting the A77 don’t get me wrong)
David
2 years ago |Sweet!! Enjoy!
Linh
2 years ago |Why do people want to cancel their pre-orders? That’s rather dumb. You’re /not/ losing money if the item is never shipped. Just keep the pre-order, if you can find the camera elsewhere, /then/ cancel it. You never know, the pre-order just might get shipped.

2 years ago |Sony USA still lists the NEX-7 release date as Nov. 9th.

2 years ago |Yep I noticed that too Doug, the a65 seems to be the black sheep of the bunch though with no set date. If anyone is looking for any of these new cameras call your local camera stores, I did and apparently they are expecting a shipment very soon which supposedly includes some a65′s, which is what I am looking for. Seems odd that the small local shops would get them in while larger suppliers like amazon are left in the dark but maybe since, I would assume, amazons orders are huge and can’t be totally fulfilled they got denied.

2 years ago |Whens the @77 coming to the usa!?
JonasM
2 years ago |You have better label that a “SAR”, because video shown on Thai news last night showed the Sony factory submerged. While only the exterior of the plant was shown, I don’t see how any tooling can be used to build something as sensitive as cameras. Unless Sony has a mirrored production site elsewhere with the same tools (its good practice but I doubt they do), they will not be shipping any cameras apart from what may already be on a container ship somewhere in the atlantic.
Veraky
2 years ago |Very true, but we can only hope since they had to know that the flooding had been steadily progressing and was on its way that they took steps to mitigate the potential damages, either by moving sensitive/important equipment or other measures. If we’re lucky maybe they had already started moving equipment to safer locations before the flooding really hit that location, hard to say though.

2 years ago |Went to B&H Photo in NYC to try to pre-order the next Alpha (I had sold my A550 for store credit). I was told I can’t pre-order in store, and I have to buy it when it’s released. Still on the fence on which one, either the 65 or 77. But if the 65 isn’t available anytime soon, I guess it’ll be the 77, because I can’t go through the holidays with just my pocket camera (HX9V, excellent btw). Has anyone heard of potential release dates in the northeast? Thanks to any replies.

2 years ago |What all of you must remember is that Sony Style Canada will publish the EXPECTED SHIP DATE, and this doesn’t mean this is the release date. As a matter of fact, those that pre-order will have a higher chance of receiving it earlier because this date changes. Last week it was November 18, the week before that was November 14, and the week before that was November 9th. I should know because I pre-ordered for a vacation I was taking for November 15th, and was glad they said expected ship date was early November. With each week that passes, and for those that don’t pre-order, there will be delays. All available stock (i.e. those made and shipped to North America before the flooding) will be depleted and fulfilled to pre-ordered customers and SELECT retailers (e.g. Henrys (here in Canada)). I talked to a few SONY reps, and it seems this is the case. Don’t be surprised if you get your NEX 7 before November 18th, and also don’t be surprised if you get it well into December. It’s the luck of the draw, and it’s the luck to those who pre-ordered early.

2 years ago |I had pre-ordered direct from Sony in Sept, and mine arrived this week in Texas.
NTSC kit with lens.
Also had pre order in with Amazon.
Worth the wait.

2 years ago |Hi guys, how can I check if any specific Sony store in Thailand have a77 or a65? The reason I’m asking is that I’ll be visiting Thailand in November and I was planning to buy a65 upon my landing, so I can start taking pictures for my trip. But with all the flooding and delays I don’t know if any of these cameras will be available in stores and I’ll have to buy something else.
I did some research and it seems that a65 and a77 are best suitable for me, and I don’t want to buy other expensive camera just because I have no choice. So how can I contact Sony in Thailand and check where, in which store do they have any of these new cameras or when they will be available? I mean beside calling each store location, which will cost me lots of money on international calls. Any suggestion is appreciated.
