Next image leak. Here is the NEX-VG30!

An anonymous source just sent us the links to those pictures form the upcoming NEX-VG30 (Thanks!). The camera looks pretty much close to the current NEX-VG20. The specs: 16MP Exmor APS-C sensor, BIONZ processor, 1080×1920 video recording at 24p/60p, 3″ LCD, XGA OLED EVF, available in November from $1,800.
P.S.: May the source can send us some A99 and NEX lens images too?

9 months ago |I’m just throwing it out there but I’d imagine it would share the new sensor from the 5R and 6 for the phase detect. Would it be awesome if it had the Apps too? yes indeed.

Matt
9 months ago |Presumably the new XLR adapter will go through the new shoe/accessory port so maybe the NEX-6, A99, VG30 and VG900 will all be able to use it? That would be amazing! Power zoom is great, though looks slightly different to the one on the EA50? Zoom controls on body and top down record button!!! Starting to look like a real video camera, rather than a long bodied NEX…

hilarious!

9 months ago |Haha I was waiting for that one! But my point is this IS Sony we are talking about, if it had WiFi it would be plastered on the camera, it isn’t so far as I can see, which means no wifi, which means no live view remote.

9 months ago |You get a wireless remote with the camera if that helps? I use mine on the vg20 all the time.

9 months ago |Admin, 1800USD including the powerzoom lens or the normal 18-200?

Power zoom itself is probably more than 1k.
Rick
9 months ago |Current VG body is $1500 and $2100 with the 18-200. For this to be $1800 with the powerzoom would be an unprecedented value for a Sony camera.

9 months ago |that new powerzoom will hit the market hard…
all my wedding videographer friend never agreee to jump on VG series due to the lens(current E lineup and A lineup with adapter) doesnt has smooth zoom/focus for serious video… now they have it… it definately will make into wedding videographers hand

9 months ago |I would have to disagree with you. I’ve been shooting weddings and events without any issue. No issue with zooming. It takes some practice. My gears: 2x VG10, NEX7, A77 & 5D2.

9 months ago |Why is it so much easier to get pictures of this Sony camera than the a99?
Rooru S.
9 months ago |Because they want to impress everybody on Announcement, not spoil everyone by releasing pictures everywhere just like that..You know, it’s the most awaited camera even before the A850/A900 were pulled out of production.
Rick
9 months ago |The big issue with the VG20 was the fact that Sony never included the picture profiles that were a part of the original specs, leaving VG users with two picture profiles that could not be modified to suit the shooting situation – so you’re stuck with Sony’s default settings – which aren’t that great.
Are you listening Sony? Put the Nex picture profiles on the VG30 and enable users to adjust sharpness, contrast and color to taste. If I can do it with my 5n, I should be able to do it with this camera. I would have bought a VG20 and will buy the VG30 if that’s the case. If not, another epic fail…

9 months ago |I tested vg20 and I didn’t buy it because of the codec mostly. the compression is heavy, you don’t have a smooth roll from highlights to white and sharpening adds a lot of noise and false detail. also I feel like the dynamic range of the sensor is not used.
I didn’t like the digital handycam look of the picture. comparing it to fs-100, fs-700, that use the same codec, made me reject it.
still the vg form factor is ideal for the projects I’m involved in right now.
Monicalol
9 months ago |The VG20 has pretty decent DR and a decent enough codec for prosumer use (no breakup and pretty solid).
Highlight falloff is great also….vastly better than other cameras ives used.
And false sharpening? Artifacts? Are you confusing it with a Panasonic cam? The VG20 has moire/alaising but that can be said the same for fs100-fs700 (and any other apsc sensor cam)
So not sure what you mean there…Aside from lack of picture profiles (which btw if you cant colour correct in post then you shouldn’t bother doing video seriously) the VG20 is a pretty decent handycam.
Id buy another VG over a VDSLR any day. Video is better than the Nex 5N & Nex 7 even though it uses the same sensor.

The iPhone 5 launch is apparently set for that day…

Yay better than the old one, hum, that’s it
A99:
big ass awesome FF cam that ALL sony shooters are waiting for.
But then again people will be happy with hypermaticinstargamm on their ifon to take real good photographs

9 months ago |I’ve heard that this will have XLR built in. There’s space on the right hand side of the handle…the pictures don’t show that area so I’m still hopeful.

9 months ago |Another SEL-18200 variation: There’s the original silver lens. Then there came the black LE, which is a Sony branded Tamron zoom with better form factor, but less effective OSS. And now comes the formerly silver one in black as PZ18-200mm with a square hood attached to http://www.sony.co.uk/pro/product/nxcamcorders/nex-ea50eh and the old tulip hood with the VG30.
Well, this indicates the forthcoming E PZ16-50 mm F3.5-5.6 OSS to come in black and not looking that good with a white NEX…

9 months ago |I just ordered the VG20 two days ago. Now I’m debating on returning the camera. My debate is do I believe the dates of the rumor and do I take the gamble that the VG30 with the lens will be priced at $1800.
Dan
9 months ago |Prolly not going to happen. I’d guess the body only will be $1800, with the lens ??? maybe a grand more…
I have a VG20, and am loving it! People are constantly amazed at how good the video shot with this camera looks.
I think the added power zoom controls will be nice, but I haven’t really been inconvenienced by the lack of them.
It looks like the White Balance replaced the Finder/LCD switch, a good move, but I use that switch a lot, and only white balance once.
You might want to get the VG30, just to have the latest-greatest.
Rick
9 months ago |I’d be genuinely shocked if the $1800 price included the new lens considering the VG20 body sells for $1500 by itself. I’m betting that price – if accurate – is body only and the powerzoom will bump it accordingly. If the VG30 sells for $1800 and includes that lens, I’m buy one and a A99 to replace my FS100.
The VG30 will be official before your return window closes – see if there are picture profiles and such that are missing from the 20. If they’re included in the 30, I’d say grab the newer model since it includes the new AF system.
Douglas
9 months ago |Nice points on the Zoom rocket control, and the new ISO mount, if Sony finally include custom color profiles, better aliasing and moire handling, and OLED viewfinder also previous model have clean HDMI output, this camera with a Atomos Ninja could be a a nice and cheaper alternative to the Nex-EA50.
I looking forward for the VG900/A99 but will keep a eye on this one.

9 months ago |I never understood why they didn’t include a REC button on the viewfinder or top handle. When I used a VG10, that was my biggest usability complaint. (When using the top handle, you have to reach your left hand around to the right side to hit record; very awkward.)

9 months ago |Looks like it could be a winner. Making my XA10 look like an antique as long as it comes with comparable features.

9 months ago |I recently used the Canon XA-10 on my octocopter – on the ground the camera is amazing.
We loved the features and the results were good enough to film for Network TV.
On the other hand – the XA10 didn’t like being on the copter in the air.
I think the drive inside just didn’t like the vibration. We’ll test the VG30 and see if Sony delivers.

9 months ago |Why doesn’t Sony go whole hog and release a 70-200 E-mount 2.8 with OS and power zoom or a 17-50 OS E-mount 2.8 with power zoom. That way we wouldn’t be relying on these inefficient 18-200 lenses which have power zoom and allow us to use LANC but have F-stops of 6.3 at the long end. I assume Sony figures they MAKE UP for it with the 30db gain, but wouldn’t it be nicer to have a pair of faster lenses and 2 cameras than one slow lens? Just thinking out loud.
