Panasonic unveils the GF2. Not as small as the NEX!

After days of rumors finally we can see the new Panasonic GF2. And with a little bit of surprise Panasonic dind’t manage it to reduce the size of the GF2 to match the Sony NEX cameras. Using a little marketing trick Panasonic is now promoting the GF2 saying that it is the smallest mirrorless camera…..with built-in Flash
P.S.: I still preferr the older Panasonic GF1.

M43 is dead and panasonic knows it so they are trying to make money from it while it last, they just can not compete with Sony Sensors quality and Sony hardware engineering to reduce the camera size
What’s the point of m43 really? zoom lens are similar in size with NEX zoom lens (Sony lens is smaller with both lens are extended)

Does it have 24p?
Oh wait, it shoots 3d… but the Sony does 3d panoramas which is even better.

Wayyyyy larger, so I wonder if the flash has stronger output?

Panasonic should fire all it’s designers…if there are any in first place.

2 years ago |The only thing I was curious about the GF2 was the prospect that it’s shutterless. If that really is the case, then I am curious as to how silent it is, as something like that would make a great concert camera although I’d rather stick to the NEX all the same.
ET
2 years ago |Why would it be shutterless? It’s still using the old sensor (DPR) and that sensor requires mechanical shutter to operate.

I’ve heard about the process that would be involved in making it shutterless and it sounds like something that would not be ideal for a smaller body camera, especially micro 4/3ds. That said, if the rumors were true, I would have taken extra heat noise if it meant avoiding lugging around a suitcase to dampen the sound.

2 years ago |Well, Im usually reading all-rumor sites I can.. Cause being biased to one manufacturer is bit stupid (I can understand that only for Leica). So unlike others I dont mind if Panasonic GF2 is on SonyAlpha rumours. Especially when its so closely related to Sony. Btw. Taken from puritan point of view, SonyAlpha should concern only on Sonys dSLRs and SLTs, as NEX is not Alpha, but E-mount.
Im not happy from either GF2 or NEX. NEX is at least better from sensor point of view, but its kinda pointless as whole this segment. If you want best quality, you can buy dSLR/SLT. If you want small camera, buy something like LX5.
Those things (GF2 and NEX) are usable only with small lens, at time, when you want zoom, it becomes front heavy stupidity with really bad handling ergonomy.
I think that Sony and Panasonic would do better, if they didnt make those cameras with changable lens. Collapsable 24-70 2.8 zoom would be much better for this, especially paired with good sensor, it could be something like small Sony R2.

2 years ago |what if people find dSLR too large but still want something close to dSLR’s quality? if you think that’s a problem they can make a collapsible lens like what samsung did.
