Sony A77 almost sold out in USA (only one super kit available at Amazon).
Yesterday I told you that A77 stocks were almost finished. But I didn’t think it would be sold out that soon! I check all major US online stores and the only A77 I found in Stock is the super A77 kit at Amazon (Click here). To bad it’s out of Stock. The camera reached the 8th position at Amazon ranking (Click here). I would have been curious to see if it would have gone close to the top Nikon and Canon camera volume sales! P.S.: The NEX-5n is the most sold camera in the mirrorless setion (Click here).
Here is the complete A77 shop link list. Only some european and asian stores are still having cameras in Stock:

7 months ago |This is horrible timing, with Black Friday/Cyber Monday coming up. I was waiting for Black Friday to get mine and something told me to go ahead and get it early. Not gonna celebrate until I get the package.

7 months ago |Hey, Does anyone know when the next a77 firmware update will be coming out?
also, video question. I have an a77, and when ever i switch to any of the ‘movie’ modes, the top end of the ISO is suddenly limited to ONLY 1600. Nothing i can do will make the ISO go above 1600 when doing video. Given that the camera is doing some major down-sampeling of the image to 1080p, it should be able to improve high iso noise performance.
Has anyone found any ‘tricks’ to let us shoot video at more then ISO 1600?? If not, hope next firmware fixes this.

7 months ago |It’s apparently related to overheating issues: http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1037&message=39594844

7 months ago |You realize that further down the thread that they pretty much debunked the idea that this is a heat related issue.

7 months ago |Are we reading the same thread?
From what I read, the OP posted a response from Paul Genge of Sony UK stating that they limited it to ISO1600 to prevent it from being a heat issue.
Almazar80
7 months ago |The statement from Paul stated that the higher voltage being sent through the sensor generates heat and as a precaution, the AUTO ISO is capped at ISO 1600. Opened my mouth too soon – I had read the original post by Scott as saying that the A77 was overheating. Oops.

7 months ago |That’s what happens if you only produce in one factory… bad strategy.
Gimp
7 months ago |Yeah because it’s sooo cheap to set-up production facilities and have two factories…sigh…
Mike
7 months ago |Sony has other factories. Previous cameras were also produced e.g. in Japan.
SonyA77
7 months ago |But they were shut down because of cost, that’s the point.
Mike
7 months ago |Yes, that’s the point and now that’s the problem. I doubt that the costs of a full production stop for several months were factored into the decision to shut down other factories.
David
7 months ago |Then you’ll pay more, Mike. Everyone is already complaining about the cost of the a77

7 months ago |I went into a Wolf Photo over the weekend. I was there to see a 5N but asked about the A77 anyway. They were sold out of the kit but they had some body only left. The salesman said they were selling quickly.
It’s the first time I got my hands on one…that EVF is fantastic.

7 months ago |Thanks for the tip yesterday night. I ordered the kit through Amazon.com even if I am from Canada (I got it delivered to a US address). I can’t wait to pick it up next week!

7 months ago |Same here, and I am real excited! Hard call between this and the Nikon D7000 but my need for video did it, plus all the positive reviews. I know it doesn’t have quite the low light performance, but I’m no pro and it’s a trade-off I’m willing to make. Now in search of the best affordable lenses, although I have high expectations for the 16-50 f2.8 kit lens.

7 months ago |I just hope these last available cameras have the same quality standard as the previous ones. Sometime I am thinking that Sony must be trying to salvage every possible parts they have on hands in order to assemble and sell as many as cameras as they can now knowing they will not have parts for a while…

7 months ago |Has anyone heard a status about their AMAZON NEX-7 pre-order?
Reading this site it seems the Sony Store has sent updates to customers setting their expectations but the only thing I got from Amazon was an email if I still wanted the thing. YES!!!
Cheers,
Bill

I placed my order September 8. I would have pulled the trigger sooner but my 5N is so sweet I thought I’d save the money. Of course I caved after a few days HAHAHAHA

7 months ago |Got my A77 from Amazon on Tuesday (8th). Finally have a US spec camera with 60p/60i/24p video. Has firmware 1.03 and looks and works great. I also purchased the SAL 2470Z to go with it and so far, so good.
I also sent back both the A77′s I got from DigitalRev and Simply Electronics because they were both UK PAL models. 1 was FW 1.02 and the other was 1.03.
Now all I’m waiting for is my $3200 refund!!!…
My guess is there are still a bunch of UK PAL units out there. At least TWO of them that I sent back!!!!!…

7 months ago |That’s one advantage of being in 50p land, stocks might be available in Europe and it might be the US where the problem is.

7 months ago |Looks as if the Sony store in Germany is running low on stocks too. I pre-ordered an A77+BG from them in late September, but got a call yesterday saying they had to cancel the order since they wouldn’t be able to fill it anytime this year.
And no details on expected shipping dates either. Damn.
