7 months ago |Yeah, on the same boat as you. I do want a Full Frame, so the rumoured A99 is what I would like. I would usually wait for the better stuff, but, I have one huge dilemma. I’m going on an oversea trip soon and I would like to have a camera with me.

7 months ago |I bought the a55 last year and promised myself I would upgrade. Tried ordering from Amazon but was not able to… left a “notify me” but they probably didn’t have time to send the email before they sold out this morning!!!…
I already have an a77 and Vertical Grip from DigitalRev in Hong Kong but it is a PAL model. Paid $1329 for the a77 body (shipped and delivered – grip was $260) for it but decided I want the US NTSC model so have ordered an a77 body from Simply Electronics for $1499.99.
Shipping PAL model back next week.
No problems with the a77… beautiful camera… ordered a SAL 2470ZA ($1539 from Simply Electronics) to go with it. Lens should arrive next week.
SAR is a great website and I particularly enjoy the comments of people far more experienced and knowledgable than I am about photography.

7 months ago |I received an a77 body ($1355) and Vertical Grip ($270) from DigitalRev in Hong Kong last Wednesday. Great prices and service. Unfortunately it is a PAL camera. My a55 is a PAL camera (purchased in Moscow) and it is a bit of a problem hooking up to my US NTSC TV to view video… doesn’t work!
Sooo, the a77 camera is going back next week. I’ve ordered an a77 body from Simply Electronics for $1499.99. Wish I’d caught the Amazon ones… I am on their “notify me” list but it probably sold out so fast the email didn’t get sent.
That being said the a77 is a beautiful piece of kit!!!… took a few test photos in the house using Eye-fi card… downloaded automatically to my PC very quickly.
Love the camera so decided paying the extra money to get a US NTSC version was probably worth it. Also purchased the SAL 2470ZA ($1539 vs $1799.99 at Amazon) to go with it.
Love the SAR website and particularly the comments from people who obviously know far more about photography than I do.

I’m starting to think about waiting for the a99, FF could be cool but the price probably won’t !.

7 months ago |Not sure where to post this…Has anybody actually tried to download .ARW files from your A65/77? Does downloading through Sony’s IDC and dowloading straight into Lightroom make a difference? I read somewhere a while back that when you convert Sony’s .ARW files directly into .DNG format, that all the data such as DRO is lost. Reason for me asking…I still transfer the files using Image Data Converter to my PC, then do another conversion into Lightroom.
Just had a shoot today with 300+ .ARW files, and it has taken 7 hours to transfer the files to my PC! If this is how it is going to be, I may just wait to get the A55 replacement. If somebody knows something that I don’t, please share. My PC is running Vista 64 bit on an AMD quad core processor with 8GB of RAM.

7 months ago |I am sort of tempted to wait for a FF camera, the more I think about it, the more sense it makes to my photography. Sadly it doesn’t make sense to my wallet. As far as the release of the A99 goes, there was rumour (have have even been confirmed by sony) that news of it would be released early 2012. If this remains true considering the recent happenings in Thailand is anyones guess.

This is a fabulous camera and I have it from a Sony dealer that after this last batch is gone there won’t be any more until mid-late January.
