Sony NEX-5R manual download. NEX-5N discontinued at BH.
Our reader Michael (Thanks) sent us the link to the NEX-5R manual which is available here at mediafire.com. The camera worldwide shipment should start soon in Asia and ON October 21th in US according to BH. It is again BHphoto that marked the NEX-5N as “discontinued”. But the recent price drop on the NEX-5N put it on top of the mirrorless ranking. And it even managed to be on top 10 of the overall digital camera ranking…pretty much a surprise!

8 months ago |Will the new firmware of NEX-7 be out at the same time?
I’m expecting that, Sony! Please don’t abandon NEX7 users…
Kevin
8 months ago |nah, Sony has abandoned us NEX-7 users already into the basement along with the NEX-3/5/C3/5N/F3

8 months ago |I am not surprise.. I started using Sony DSLR since A100, and Sony seldom release firmware update unless they need to support additional accessories (to make more $$). The only exception I can remember is the NEX-5 firmware update to support focus peaking.

8 months ago |They was 4 updates to nex-5 firmware !
It could be really desappointing considering the nex-7 price if they will be no firmware !! especillay considering the lens correction (for jpeg) when 6 new lenses are coming next year !
And I still hope with a new firmware to give the possibility to download app via USB !!
As for the Nex-5 (first of the name) I hope Sony will not forget this fast all the nex-7 owners !!

8 months ago |Let me clarify, I think Sony will release new firmwares to support the new lens. Selling these new lens is how they make $$, the profit they could make from the camera body is very limited. What I meant was that we should not have high hope for new features or major improvements in the future firmwares.

8 months ago |I sure hope 5N will still be around (with a good discount) when I’m in NY the 15th.

8 months ago |That’s disappointing. The 7 is my first Sony but if what you say is true and Sony does not update its firmware, it could be my last. I bought the 7 knowing its quirks but assumed they would be addressed in an update. And in that update I was hoping they would add more aspect ratio options – ones available on the other brand mirrorless cameras I have owned. I have projects that often call for 1:1 and although I can crop later, it’s not the same as seeing 1:1 in the finder, LCD and when opened in Bridge.

8 months ago |Thanks.. I forgot to mention I am from Canada, so far we only have the Body only version and the Body+18-55 kit. They are both in stock at sonystyle.ca, but there is a chance we will never get the body+16-50 kit here.

Here’s a link saying the 5RL is actually in stock with the power-zoom (and it ships to Canada, hurray since I still have my relatives over there who can then ship it back to me in Europe!).

8 months ago |uh, if they ship it to europe, won’t the customs charge a lot for it, making it even more expensive than just buying it in europe at the end?

8 months ago |Hmmm, from what I read in the manual, it seems that overheating when filming is still a problem :
“When you are recording continuously for a long time, you may feel that the
camera is warm. This is normal. Also, “Internal temp. high. Allow it to cool.” may appear. In such cases, turn the camera off and wait until the camera is ready to shoot again.” (p.32)

8 months ago |even the NEX 5R / NEX6 is point & shoot camera lacking many controls avaiable even with entry level DSLRs, but most annoyingly – it lacks controls avaiable in compact fix lens cameras!
how the hell they don’t want to fix control wheel issue – so one can adjust exposure compensation with back wheel, and aperture with the other? (NEX6)
this is the most basic thing while shooting a picture – and the need to click the wheel down is absolutely $”*&”$^& for me when even my old Canon G10 had a wheel for that – and SONY won’t fix it in firmware, as their response is:
BUY NEX 7 instead of NEX6
So I wonder why they did introduced the wheel in the first place – NEX cameras are the best in mirrorless market, but they’re still P&S controled. My OM-D is like a different leauge when it comes to controls…

8 months ago |Yes. Incredibly so.
Two dials are only fully utilized in Manual mode, it seems. I hope they fix that before it starts shipping.
