6 months ago |Hi Rawfa,
you seem to talk about the Mitakon 35/T0.95 in the posts you linked.
The SLR Magic HyperPrime CINE 35mm T0.95 is a completely different construction (and a different quality level as well!).

6 months ago |Interesting take on the new pancake lens, I’ve been considering it because of the size compared to the old kit lens but if it’s a bit difficult to use it would be worth a 2nd look and maybe a test drive at the Sony Store. One thing omitted when you were talking about the lens adapter is the Sony LA-EA1 and LA-EA2 lens adapters which give you use of A mount lens with AF, aperture control, and of note with the LA-EA2 blazing fast Translucent mirror AF.

6 months ago |this guy seems to insinuate that size/focal length dictates optical quality?
Like, he compares the lens he has on the camera (I’m assuming the kit lens) to a large telephoto and seems to insinuate that because one lens is much larger than the other then it must be better. Which is VERY strange.

Nex users are hilarious.

As a manual focus lens user he could be better off by getting a good wide angle film camera lens with an adapter. Neither OSS nor autofocus would be critical. (Could resort to hyper focal distance if there wasn’t enough time to get the focus set).
For longer focal length he could get a ridiculously sharp and inexpensive Sigma 30mm f2.8 EX lens with autofocus or the new Sony E 35mm f1.8 OSS or 50mm f1.8 OSS lens.
Anyhow, Merry Christmas to all!

6 months ago |Hello everybody and Merry Christmas
Thanks Andrea for sharing my quick video review on the Sony Nex-6 with 16-50mm power zoom lens and other links!!!
Also, thanks everybody for the comments on the video!! Please be sure to check out my full review, as this quick review doesn’t cover a lot of the important details: http://sonyalphalab.com/product-review/sony-nex-6-mirrorless-camera-review-hands-on-real-world-experience/
In reference to the 16-50mm power zoom lens:
I don’t like the power zoom. I’m not a manual focus shooter, but prefer manual zooming the lens over the power zoom. The purpose of showing the Canon 70-200mm lens attached to the camera was more for visual effect using scale. I was not stating that larger lenses are better than smaller lenses, but in this particular case that is true. I wanted to illustrate that just because the camera is tiny, doesn’t mean you have to use tiny lenses? Average folks still have no idea that the Nex cameras have this capability and power!
In Raw mode, which I prefer to use, the 16-50mm zoom is incredible bad at 16mm. Worse than the 16mm f/2.8 pancake by far. Same on the 50mm end. It’s softer than the 18-55mm kit lens. I wanted more sharpness and the f/2.8 speed of the pancake prime.
As far as video is concerned, the power zoom is great!! Consistant zooming speed throughout and if video is your priority, I would recommend this lens for sure. My main priority is photography with video as a nice feature for family stuff and for fun.
Thanks again for checking out the review and the feedback/ comments are always appreciated
