Sony SLT37 discontinued. Replacement in Spring…
Sony Japan just marked the A37 as “Discontinued“. As I have told you lately there will be 2-3 new APS-C SLT cameras coming next year. The first one is scheduled for spring. From what I heard entry level SLT will be replaced and than new semi pro APS-C SLT will follow.
And as you know in US all current SLT APS-C models are heavily discounted at Amazon (Click here), Adorama (Click here) and Bhphoto (Click here)!

2 weeks ago |An outstanding share! I have just forwarded this onto a coworker who had been doing a little homework
on this. And he in fact bought me lunch simply because
I found it for him… lol. So allow me to reword this…
. Thanks for the meal!! But yeah, thanx for spending some time to discuss this subject here on your website.

2 months ago |Just as Sony is discontinuing a37, Canon is issuing EOS100D / Rebel SL1. There is always a market for small DSLRs. Not everybody can handle a big DSLR the whole day especially those with small hands and the not so young.

4 months ago |To anyone that is wondering, or hasn’t heard; Sony has released the alpha – a58 which will replace both the 37,and the 57 in order to simplify their lineup. And there are some rumors going around that there will be a replacement to the a77

6 months ago |Andrea,
Is the new semi-pro SLT you refer to an APS-C model? What is your best guess on when it will be announced/available? Any specs to speculate on?
I’m trying to decide whether to go for an a77 or wait. I’m hoping the next one will have less noise and the ability to shoot jpgs continuously for several seconds, even if it’s just 6 fps like the a99. What good is 8 fps if you can only shoot a second or so? In sports, plays last longer than that.

6 months ago |im wondering……at the rate at which Sony is spitting out cameras, are they even going to support the older models anymore? i just got my A77 this summertime and im hearing they’ll be coming out with a new semi-pro model already? I’m hoping they’ll fix the high ISO and maybe add a teathering feature.

6 months ago |Andrea, I love your website and view it daily! I wanted to get your opinion, i’m an advanced amateur an in the market for a new camera system (I sold most of my camera equipment already). I’m debating buying a Nikon D600 specially with the great promotion they have going on right now. Or else I wait to see the new Canon 7D replacement or the Sony Semi Pro SLT-C. I shoot a variety of pictures, from my Family to Events, Portraits, Travel, and Landscape (I love hiking & mountains). I don’t shoot any macro. I think the sensor, dynamic range and high iso on the D600 are amazing. The downside is that its very difficult to get a f2.8 lens without having to spend $2000 on a 24-70 lens. I’m considering the 24-120 f4 for the Nikon. Canon and Sony both have great APS-C f2.8 lens closer to $1000. I always loved Canon photos, and I love the features Sony has (I tried out the A77 but didn’t like the high iso graininess). Any thoughts? Your opinion greatly appreciated.

6 months ago |I use the A37 and while overall response time is better than my A55 the low res, low viewing angle screen is simply appalling in this day and age.
I hope this is the last camera to ever use such a poor screen. My old Sony A200 had a similar resolution but had better visibility from angles.

6 months ago |Well, looking at the default product cycle, the A39 or whatever this will be called should be avaiable in mid 2013. The A57 replacement should come by the end of the year, which I suppose would be the same time a replacement for the A65 should come.
So I will make an educated guess that we will see something like an A47 coming out too early 2013.
I just hope that the A77 replacement will not come in 2013 and they will rather support us with new firmwares. Andrea, any news on that?
