(SR4) HOT!!! Is this the first image of the NEX-7?

I just got the link to the following NEX-7 picture! I have been told this is a preproduction version! One of my sources said the image is original but the final model could have some differences!!! As you see the NEX-7 has a rangefinder style a là Fuji X100 (Click here to see that camera)! As you know the NEX-7 will feature the same A77 24 Megapixel sensor and a 3 million dot OLED EVF (it is not a hybrid viewfinder!). It has the Zeiss 24mm f/1.8 attached (but that is also a prototype). The camera should cost around $1.200.
UPDATE (Mark explanation):
1) 3 Million dot OLED EVF
2) Hot shoe
3) 24mm f/1.8 ZEISS
4) Flash and the Image preview buttons
5) Pop-Up flash
6) Manual Aperture and Shutter Speed controls?
7) ???
8) ???
Stay tuned on SAR. I am still working to get more info about the A77 pictures leaked yesterday. Don’t miss any rumors. Join us on Facebook, Twitter and follow our RSS-feed!
Reminder (SR = Sonyrumor):
SR1=probably fake rumor
SR2=rumor from unknown sources
SR3=50% chance it is correct
SR4=rumor from known sources (60-80% the rumor is correct)
SR5=almost certainly correct!

2 years ago |Are you sure that’s real? Did you notice that the On/Off switch says “OFF NO”?

2 years ago |hmm OFF / NO? HAHAHAHAHA..First sign of a fake..but well, it might be relatively about the same for the actual product..with the NO to ON.

2 years ago |I specifically asked a source about that. He said the prorotype is real! It’s not a leak of the final version!

Good to have move buttons though, and pop-up flash.

2 years ago |I do not know whats the advantage of such a small body combined with such big lenses.
It would only make sense if Sony offers some smaller AND better lenses (better than the 16mm/2.8 !).
For now I see no reason not prefering a A55 or A77 when using lenses bigger than the 16mm or 18-55 kit lenses.
Building an body with aps-c sensor with suitable good and light lenses seems to be a miracle for the sony-nex system.
A 12-24, 18-200 or 70-300 lense on such a body isn´t comfortable to hold.
And thats the advantage of mft, a 9-18 and 14-150 are covering 18-300mm KB with less than 500g weight!

2 years ago |I got the nex-5 for my wife to use instead of the beat up P&S she used to carry around. She picked this one out after trying out the PENs and GF1~2s at b&h photo at Manhattan. FWIW she carries it around fine everyday in her handbag with either the 16mm or 18~55mm attached. I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t fit in her bag if it were a A55 or A77.

2 years ago |Marvelous! It seems bigger than NEX-5 but far much better. With all this functions pop in up, who doesn’t want one? Still slim and able to fit any bag, specially for professionals who would like to have a second camera just ready to shoot. Great Sony and I hope the final model doesn’t differentiate too much from this one.

2 years ago |Looks amazing. Will definitely upgrade (from a GF1) to this if it’s released with a Zeiss 24mm f/1.8 lens. Pity it’s not more of a pancake like the 16mm though. Hoping it’s due to image stabilisation, though hardly necessary for such a fast lens.

2 years ago |This is pretty much exactly what I want. I agree that the 24 mm lens does look unusually big for that size. Hope there’s some sweet fast pancakes on the way too. The ‘NO’ button does make it look pretty suspicious, but I hope that’s just coz it’s pre-production. Really hope it’s shipping before October so I can have for my holiday!

2 years ago |+1, I couldn’t have said it better myself! I’ll be in Rome in October and have a private tour booked for parts of the Vatican. It’ll be dark in a lot of places and that may be too tough for my Digilux 2. I could always shoot film with my CL & 40mm Summicron, but am really looking forward to using that and my other Leica glass on the NEX-7… PLEASE make it happen, Sony!

2 years ago |Most important thing people are looking for in NEX 7 is very good Image quality and very easy to use real compact DSLR with full manual control, and a range of excellent quality Lenses to match . Picture quality must be as good as highend DSLR especially at low light / night, which can reproduce exact colors,white balance,very sharp and crisp pictures. We should be able to change every single setting manualy like in a highend dslr’s. Other important part is they should have a wide range of very high quality lenses, Like L quality fast lenses,40mm,50mm, 1.8-2f, L quality fast compact travel /all purpose lens- 18- 270/300mm- f 2-2.4 . No point in having highend camera with no highend lenses. Most important thing is Image quality every thing else comes next.

2 years ago |The one thing that makes my Nex-5 head and shoulders above any camera I’ve used before is the articulated screen which lets me take Low angle shots. But,,,this looks like a fixed screen???? if that’s so the NEX-7 that I’ve been saving so hard for is now off my list.
I don’t care about the viewfinder, shooting with a camera pushed against your eye is sooo last century.

2 years ago |Wow, love the style! If it have IBIS and can handle A-mount lens as good as A77, and all buttons and dials can be custom assigned, than this little camera will be perfect
Shawn
2 years ago |I hope that the actual product will look this way… The lens is to long though, I would like a pancake(at least more compact) 24,35,50(maybe an 85) that doesn’t sound like a lot does it? ;p LOL

2 years ago |Please excuse me if this is a silly question but… I’m still using an older Konica Minolta D5, what’s the chances that Sony is keeping the same lens mount and that I’ll be able to port my lens over? I see that by the looks of the flash foot, I would be able to keep my flashes at least…
Edwin Herdman
2 years ago |@ FatherStorm:
The Sony Alpha mount is said to be compatible with the Konica Minolta mount. There are still some great lenses with the Konica Minolta badge that I would love to try out someday…like the 70-200mm f/4 and especially their 300mm f/2.8 which is an awesome looking lens.
Anyway, to actually answer your question: This isn’t Alpha mount, but Alpha mount was specifically mentioned as compatible with some E-Mount camcorders by Sony itself. I think this is done by the use of a glass-free (I hope) adapter. Keeping in mind the crop factor when using these lenses on sensors smaller than 35mm film frames, these lenses will likely not have the same field of view as they did on film, however.

As long as I can keep using m’y leica and Zeiss manual lenses on it. When I Will be in need for speed, i Will pop that sweet 24 MM on it for great 36 mm shooting. This is the camera Leica should have comme out with ( and they coule sell it twice as much) instead of the x-1. Oh well liera lenses are lovely on the Nex5
