(SR4) Sony to announce new “photographic” products in early January.

Your really will not have to wait a long time to see some new stuff from Sony. Trusted sources just informed us that Sony scheduled a new product announcement for early January. You may know that the CES show starts on January 8th. What you don’t have to expect is a FF NEX or a FF SLT. What you certainly will see is new compact cameras. I am still not sure if the new A-mount lenses (18-270mm and 50mm Zeiss) will be released now or in February. And so the 85mm f/1.8 E-mount lens.
Will let you know as soon as I get a note form trusted sources! Stay tuned on SAR! Subscribe the RSS feed (Click here) and Twitter (Click here) stream and the Facebook fan page (Click here)!

7 months ago |I think the rumor should be a SR5, as every company will be showing new products at CES. It would be shocking if Sony didn’t make an announcement.

7 months ago |probably the same as last year. Some 3D and normal Handycams and low-tier Cybershot cameras. I would be fine with some roadmap for 2013-2014 or even better, 2014-2015.

7 months ago |Things I want:
1. A77 with 16MP sensor (probably not going to happen).
2. AF-D Capable APS-C with micro AF adjust.
Really I just want a decent APS-C with 16MP sensor and AF adjust, AF-D would just be a bonus.

I hope this is a case of bad English! This reads that you don’t know if they will be released AT ALL! Did you mean that you don’t know if they will be released THEN – refering to CES?

7 months ago |Andrea.. i’m getting really confused now. In recent posts you said they are going to release new A-mount SLTs and in other posts you said you are sure the A77 won’t be replaced any time soon. Could you just give me your opinion on this one more time? I’m in a bit of a struggle what to look for
Thanks!

7 months ago |Perhaps they’ll release replacement for A450 (something alike A40 – positioned between A35 and A57) as well as low-end alpha (eg. A20 – something as cheap as it gets) ?
The other alternative would be extremely high-end, specialized APS-C SLT camera (eg. low-light beast with 16 (or lower) MPx, mirror flip-up mode, and enhanced sensor cooling?
There’s quite a few cameras I can think of that would be an APS-C models not replacing any current SLTs.

Not gonna happen.
Sky_walker
7 months ago |They told the same about Full Frame E-mount.
The Lotus Eater
7 months ago |How is that relevant?
There is huge demand for FF NEX, which will be a product in itself. Mirror flip-up would be a niche feature for a completely different product.
SLT mirror flip-up has less demand, would be difficult to achieve technically AND economically and is pretty much pointless for anyone but pixel peepers.

7 months ago |Or even better, give me a ‘small premium’ Alpha series, kind of what the a55 was, but step it up to dual control dials, mag-alloy body and weather sealing. Add in a better AF system like the A77, optional grip, A37 or A77 screen articulation and OLED EVF and I’ll buy three!
Vlad
7 months ago |I’ll get one of those too.

7 months ago |I agree with you, but I really hope Sony steps up and releases a real top end APS-C camera. That includes DUAL card slots and 2 or 3 SEPARATE memory positions on the mode dial. I’m still wondering what was wrong with the control layout of the (K)M 7/7D that Sony ditched it. Please give me those controls back: Drive mode control ring below mode dial, EC/FEC dials, metering mode switch, AF area switch. Mix this with the modern Sony controls like the Silent Multicontroller and a weathersealed magnesium body and in my opinion, Sony can make an offer I can’t resist.

Keep up the great work!!

7 months ago |Interesting, if a new NEX3 is coming, will it be shaped like F3 or rather like C3 or smaller?

7 months ago |Yes !!! I have been waiting for this day for so long… Either an fully upgraded HX300 with constant F2.8 or faster lens and a sensor with better snr and DR plus RAW and flash capability or…an renewed A79 will be highly appreciated !!!!!
Come on, keep releasing better yet affordable products !!!

7 months ago |I just hope that 2013 is a good year for full-frame A-Mount lenses!
If we leave the updated 300mm and the new 500mm out of the conversation Sony has released only two full-frame primes since taking over from Minolta in 2006 the SAL-24-F20Z, SAL-85F28 in 2010
I’m Looking forward to the new 50mm
Sony full-frame shooters are in better shape with Zooms with a nice assortment released by Sony in 2008 and 2009 but nothing new since.
It wouldn’t be that difficult for Sony to turn that around if it would release two or three quality/fast primes, a new macro or two and start updating a few of the older pre 2008 zooms and add one or two slower (cheaper) f4 zooms.
That would do it, and would also convince most everyone that the A-Mount and Sony full-frame photography WAS here to stay.

7 months ago |i really hope they present a new a77 with less mpx(16or18)with an af intelligent and not only muscular, the tracking on shot button as a99.

Must have missed the earlier rumor… Is the 18-270mm a replacement/upgrade to the Sony 18-250mm?… I loved the 18-250 on my a55… long since sold on ebay but I might buy it again if it has been significantly upgraded!!!… Presumably the 18-270 is an APS-C like the 18-250 but it would still be interesting to know more about it…

7 months ago |What I would love is if all the sony nex cameras had a built in hot shoe and also I would love if they had gain for when its really dark. I always have to open my flash on my nex-f3 when its dark and I already have a flash via adapter.
