(SR5) UPDATeD: Sony press release teaser!!!
And now it is official! Sony will announce the new DSLR on August 24! They also say that those are “never-before-seen Sony SLR’s”!!! And since November 2009 SonyAlphaRumors is telling you that those are the new translucent cameras. The semi transparent pellicle allows to have Phase detection during video recording. You can alos move up the transparent mirror (if you don’t want to have the little light loss when using the mirror). Very fast 10fps (frames per second).
UPDATE: We now know the original source of the teaser leak: http://www.electronista.com/articles/10/08/12/sony.to.have.new.alphas.in.two.weeks/

3 years ago |I hope that it will be good cameras. The image quality is better than d90, and a lower price, because nobody would buy, if otherwise.

If you can’t disclose that, perhaps the country, the time-zone (GMT-x) or at least the continent could be helpful…
Thanks!

Fast AF while shooting video
Less sound and vibration from the mirror, assuming it will rise up and down while photographing.

3 years ago |Sony’s camera is not pellix/pellicle which is a very thin delicate membrane-like thing. Sony’s version has translucent mirror that is thick enough to be movable.

3 years ago |Awesome! Food and drinks provided! Oh and yay for new DSLRs =P
elliot
3 years ago |Pellix: NO blackout time during shots because no mirror blocks your view — this lets you view the exact scene as you’re shooting. No moving mirror also permits faster fps shooting. No mirror means significantly reduced shutter lag too — the Canons RT from the mid-90s took only 0.008 sec. for the shutter’s first curtain to open and the second curtain to close after exposure.
Historical disadvantages: somewhat darker viewfinder, much greater dust accumulation, less light hitting the sensor (the RT lost 2/3 of a stop)
It all depends on the design, though. Sony’s modified version may address or mitigate problems (or limit advantages) … or not.
What I want to know is if the pellix cameras use the E-mount or the A-mount. I’d be very intrigued if all the limitations of the NEX cameras were obviated by a Pellix DSLR body!
acolyte
3 years ago |@elliot: My bet is it’s the A-mount. There was somewhere they put up an image (no idea if it’s real) of the A33/55 with CZ16-80. At the least, they are planning it to call it Axx so I guess it’s an A-mount :s
Off topic, is there any adapter for A-mount to E-mount?
@ocal5: Simple. You’re taking pictures, not trying to hold a piece of hot metal (or plastic?)
Soooo btw is this rumor true? Or just a photoshop?
CL
3 years ago |A33/A55 are definitely A-mount, there has to be room for the mirror… NEX required a new lens line (the E-mount) because the mount is so close to the sensor. so geometry wise, you can have a E to A adapter (basically a spacer) but not a A to E adapter.
Tubal
3 years ago |@acolyte: Sony sells an A to E adapter for using a-mount on NEX cameras. They are around $200 if I’m not mistaken, and come with a tripod mount.

3 years ago |Line 4, “Also” is misspelt.
People complaining it looks like an A55O, I thought we was waiting for the A560 which will no doubt look identical. SO the image is understandable.
Thomas
3 years ago |Electronista stated A33 and A55 as Pro-Versions of the NEX-System!
Could they be E-mount?
admin
3 years ago |No E-mount!
Dingo
3 years ago |We don’t want no E-mount!
elliot
3 years ago |Too bad. A mirrorless E-mount DSLR with EVF would have made good competition to the Samsung NX and Panasonic Gx lines.
Owen.C
3 years ago |The way its worded makes it sound like a 3D Alpha. Which would not surprise me in the slightest given that everything Sony is doing is 3D now.
elliot
3 years ago |Sony’s 3D technology only works with new, proprietary Sony 3D-tech televisions (along with special $125 Sony glasses).
It’s incompatible with any other company’s televisions or 3D technologies. In other words, it will be — at best — a quirky, niche feature for a tiny percentage of the market.
It might sell a few more Sony TVs but it’s not going to be anything particularly useful in a mainstream way (eg upload so anyone viewing with cheap $2 anaglyph glasses can get the 3D effect).
Between video, GPS and 3D, I hope the market retains products for those fossils who are interested in still photos.

3 years ago |@cincentius – no they don’t sell E->A adapters. And even if they would – I wouldn’t buy it. It’d have t have a lens inside which would spoil the image quality.
