A3000:Just announced and already a price drop. 10% off on Sony store Europe.

In Europe Sony already decided to lower the price of the just announced and first ILCE-3000 (or A3000) camera and kit lens. It’s now 299 pounds at Wex UK or 359 Euro at Wex DE. It even sells for less at Mediamarkt (see photo on top). I am a bit surprised to see such a big price drop one month after the announcement. And I don’t know the reason why Sony didn’t price the A3000 at 330 Euro in first place (was 399 Euro at launch).

QX10 in Stock and selling well. But engadet says it’s fantastic and impractical :)

The QX10 is in Stock and the QX100 will ship on October 15 according to Amazon US (Click here). And the QX10 is selling quite fine if you look at Amazon’s overall ranking (here). But does the gadget actually do the job? Engadget posted the full QX review and they say it’s both a fnatastic and impractical tool:

“It’s possible that the new technique will feel natural over time, but why bother? Serious photographers need a serious camera, and the QX100, as much as we wanted to like it, is not a serious camera.”

Time will tell if the QX LensCameras are succesful or not. For now I can say that I am happy to see Sony bringing some kind of excitement ont he camera market…not only with the QX, but also with the NEX-FF.

Sony RX100MII tested at Dpreview. QX10/100 shipment start today.

Today is the DDay for the new QX Lens cameras. They are marked as ready for shipment on Amazon US (Click here). And the QX100 counterpart, the RX100MII just got tested at Dpreview (Click here) and it earned a Silver Award:

“Overall, the RX100 II is virtually untouchable in its compact camera class. For anyone simply looking for the best image quality from a compact, the RX100 II is the answer. Enthusiasts, however, should be cautioned. Anyone who picks up the camera will love the images it produces, but someone looking for a more satisfying shooting experience might need to look elsewhere.”

This is definitely the best real-compact camera with zoom lens. I say “real” because many of the so said “compact” cameras are too big to fit comfortably in your pocket.
