Today Canon  said they ar developing a 8K Cinema Camera: “that will support the production of next-generation 8K video content” and MP FF camera: ” The high-resolution images that the camera will be capable of producing will recreate the three-dimensional texture, feel and presence of subjects, making them appear as if they are really before one’s eyes. The camera will facilitate a level of resolution that is more than sufficient for enlarged poster-sized printout while also enabling images to be cropped and trimmed without sacrificing image resolution and clarity.” Real product announcement? Reminder: Back in 2010 Canon announced a 120MP APS-H sensor (Source: Canon). And that sensor never found it’s way in a real camera to date. So let’s see if and when they will actually release the 8K camcorder and 120MP FF camera…

Zeiss stated many times that the new Batis lenses are manufactured in Japan without to mention the exact company. And of course we already highly suspected Cosina is the one making those. One more proof of that is that the first Batis lenses are now for sale on [shoplink 40067 ebay]eBay Japan (Click here)[/shoplink] and they come with a 1 year Cosina(!) warranty.

Last week Zeiss also promised that they will increase the production of Batis lenses. Let’s hope you can get your preorder soon! I already spent my $$$ on the 90mm FE…

Bloomberg reports that Sony is focusing on sensors that take photos at least 10 times faster than the human eye can see. Sony is working with Nissan Motor Co. and a Tokyo University to create an affordable 1,000 fps sensor for the automotive market.

What is really cool to see is the superfast tracking system that keeps the object in focus and in the center of the image:

The video is made by the University of Tokyo with whom Sony iw working with. It would be amazing to have a focus tracking system like this on a camera for sports and wildlife photography!
