DC.watch posted that set of “real life” A7m2 pictures from the presentation in Tokyo. The image on tops shows the A7m more protruding grip (camera below) compared to the current A7. This makes it possible to put the shutter button on the way more comfortable top of the grip. it will also make it easier to hold the camera with larger lenses attached.

In super short the A7m2 has 30% faster autofocusing (over A7), robust mount (yeah!), 4,5 stops stabilization, optimized layout (shutter button and grip replaced/redesigned) and XAVC-S recording.

The Sony A7II has been officially announced at Sony Japan! I will now continually update this post with info. Very strange that we have a “pure” Japanese announcement only!

The A7II indeed has an amazing 5 axis stabilization!
It has a faster hybrid AF.

Release date for the camera is December 5.
Price is 190,000 yen (current conversion: 1300 Euro or $1,600). Although I am sure price in Dollar will be lower

In deep details:

1) 5 axis stabilization:
There is a special page on that at Sony Japan (google translation here). It works up to 4,5 stops of correction (in video up to 5 stops). Shake correction can be checked in Live View too.

2) Hybrid AF:
Sony says the A7II autofocus is 30% faster than on the previous A7. And also the subject acquisition performance and motion tracking performance has been  improved.

3) Body changes:
Finally the shutter button is on the place where it always should have been…on top of the grip :)
The body also has another texture
Grip is now better suited to hold larger lenses too (so says Sony)

Finally a great new for A-mount camera owners! Not only did you get the 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 G SSM II today. Sony will also release a new 24-70mm II and 16-35mm II A-mount lens in 2015! Digitalcamera.jp posted a set of pictures from the Japanese A7m2 presentation and there is that image showing the two new lenses. The lenses will have
– Improved AF speed
– Updated design and weatherproof body
– Image Quality improvement (like ghost reduction)

This is exactly what we needed from Sony to let us know A-mount is continuing…

Good news for the A-mount A77m2 camera owners: Sony Japan announced they will release a new firmware update in December. Those are the two great features that will be added:

1. Auto focus up to 2.5 times faster at low light!*
* Internal measurement method DT 16-50mm F2.8 SSM when mounted

2. XAVC-S recording

Sony Japan at lats announced a new A-mount lens: The 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 G SSM II!
