First of all let’s start with a good news: Sony is back to profit and is slowly recovering from the deep crisis they went into the last years. The second news is that while Sony sold less cameras it managed to increase the profit. This is mainly due the fact that Sony is selling much less unprofitable fixed lens small sensor compacts and is focusing on more enthusiast and high-end stuff like RX cameras and E-mount mirrorless. But there is still a lot to do from Sony to growth in terms of market share and customer confidence. How about making a roadmap for A-mount and APS-C E-mount products? About time to give those camera owners something to look forward too!

Ofer Rozeman sent me this video of his New stop-motion-road-trip-video which is gone viral on Youtube. He told me:

Last September my wife and I traveled with our friends to Eastern Europe. As designated shooter I’ve tried capturing the 3000km road trip with this stop motion video made of 200GB and 8000 stills.
The idea of a stop-motion travel video came up when I wanted that by the end of my trip I’ll have a high quality video + a stills album, without having to decide what to shoot next while I’m on-scene. I also took into consideration the fact that the [shoplink 34579 ebay]RX1s[/shoplink] video quality wasn’t that good. Eventually I came into conclusion that shooting a stop-motion has lots of advantages: smooth camera movement, 6K resolution, super-accurate AF, All of those with zero budget (except for the RX1 of course).
I chose the [shoplink 34579 ebay]RX1[/shoplink] because of its excellent image quality and compact size – ideal for traveling. It is also very convenient for street photography: the silent shutter and 35mm lens make the objects act natural while being photographed.

The “old” style looking new Ultron lens.

Two small news about new Voigtländer M-mount lenses you can use on Sony E-mount cameras with an adapter:

1) Fotocommunity unveiled the pricing/shipment of the new Ultron 35mm f/1.7 lens. It will cost 1.000 Euro and ship in May. The lens is M-mount but has been “optimized” to be used on digital cameras.

2) The Sony FE optimized Heliar 15mm f/4.5 lens will ship from early April at [shoplink 34591 ebay]Fotomundus Germany (Click here)[/shoplink] and [shoplink 34590 ebay]Shenikon Hong Kong (Click here)[/shoplink]. A review of the lens on the Sony can be seen here on SAR.
