You may have missed that: Voigtlander announces a strange Full Frame pancake lens for E-mount!

One of the strangest new products of the Photokina show is the new Voigtlander 40mm f/2.8 Heliar lens. The strange part is that one: It’s an M-mount lens that you can not(!) use on M-mount cameras (no helicoid to focus). It has been designed to use in combination with the [shoplink 29312 ebay]VM-E Close Focus Adapter (here on eBay)[/shoplink] only. And it has been designed and optimized for the Full Frame E-mount(!). The lens is very compact and weights 112grams only. It’s a collapsible lens.

Short note to readers and sources (patience with news posting)

Just a short note to ask for some patience to readers and sources who sent me news and rumor the last 10 days. I will post ALL I got but I need time to work on the material I received. Please keep in mind that unlike other big sites this is an amateur-hobby site. I do not work full-time here but only 1-2 hours per day on average. Thanks for your understanding :)

One more rumor: I am working on many A and E-mount info I got the last weeks. I repeat it again: There is an exciting event in January. Megapixel rush coming :)

Sigma says they will yet not make FE lenses. Will keep doing APS-C E-mount and A-mount.

Kazuto Yamaki CEO from Sigma talked to Focus Numerique (translation by SigmaRumors). And there are a couple of news related to Sony stuff:

1) Sigma will not make lenses for the FE system yet

2) Sigma will keep making APS-C E-mount lenses

3) Sigma will soon update the [shoplink 29294 ebay]24-70mm f/2.8 EX DG HSM[/shoplink] and the [shoplink 29295 ebay]70-200mm f/2.8 EX DG OS HSM[/shoplink] lenses for A-mount.

What you may have missed: Canon copied the RX100 :)

The last couple of years Canon proved tho have a very conservative approach on the digital camera market. And the best they can do now is to copy the best ideas :)

Latest example is their newly announced RX100 clone, the Canon G7x (specs here at Amazon). The Canon is cheaper but it doesn’t come with a built-in EVF (that alone makes up for most of the price difference). A good point for the Canon is that it has a wider zoom range (24-100mm). Well at least we have some competition and maybe Sony will lower the price of the RX100m3.
