Phototrend had a short chat with Foucauld Prové, Managing Director at Sigma France.
Sigma is eager to make “unusual” lenses:
So yes, the demand for atypical optics is growing. And then we also see the evolution of the photo market, which is increasingly moving towards a market of expert amateurs. And this type of user may have more specific desires: it is to this type of demand that we will respond with this type of lens.
Could Sigma make a sort of 100-300mm f/2.8 lens?
We had a Sigma 120-300mm f/2.8 DG OS HSM zoom in the catalog for many years, with several versions between 2008 and 2022. So, no doors are closed on that level.
How Sigma’s sees the market:
The Sigma brand has had its best years in history over the last three years globally and in France as well. We are therefore on a good trend and with very good prospects for the future.
Strongest mount demand:
It is obviously the E mount that has allowed the brand to grow in recent years.
About the possibility of getting a compact 70-200mm f/4.0 lens:
If we ever launch a 70-200mm in the Contemporary line, it would probably have an f/4 aperture, in order to gain in compactness and lightness. Would a 70-200mm f/4 lens be very successful? I’m not 100% convinced.

Fujifilm X-M5 vs Sony ZV-E01II size comparison by Camerasize
As you know, the Sony ZV-E10/II is the best-selling E-mount camera and still consistently tops the rankings on Amazon (click here). Last week Fujifilm announced the new X-M5 (here on Amazon and BHphoto). An attempt to compete directly with the Sony ZV-E10II. It has almost the same features as the Sony, but costs 200 dollars less. The design, film simulation options (and dedicated dial) are definitely a plus for the Fuji. While the Sony probably has the better autofocus and grip. Here is a size comparison:

Sirui is ready to launch its first AUTOFOCUS full-frame lens. It will have an aperture of f/1.4, but the focal length is not yet known. I just hope it’s not another 50mm lens. I now count over SIXTY TWO such 50mm lenses on BHphoto.
Here is an image of the front of the lens:
