Some SAR readers sent me their impression and reports about the Photokina event. Her eis the list…Thanks guys!

2) Thomas: “I’m at Photokina. I put my modified Samyang 7.5mm MFT lens on the Sony full frame E-mount VG-900 Handycam. Here are the shots.

3) Alexander: “The Zeiss Lenses are just mock-ups but the Lens-Design is going to stay the same:
32mm 1.8 Planar will be a planar. its very small! Sames size as 35 1.8oss  but with 52mm filter
12mm 2.8 Distagon  is short but huge and the distagon lens design is inevitable so it will be a distagon at the and
the 50mm is most likely going to be a planar (macro)
I also have Raw+jpeg files from the 16-50  pancake to see of it has any distortion at its widest setup.
From what I can see it has alot of it. Unfortunately the wide angle zoom for E-mount was not available for testing.
The phasedetect focus for now only works with the 16-50mm and the 55-210 it did not work with my Zeiss 24mm! But the  firmware is only 0.95
The Focus is fast! and the speed does not vary in bad conditions as much as my nex5n with 24mm does. In contrasty conditions the nex6 + 16-50 was only slighlty faster then nex5n + zeiss  @ same f stop and focal.
4) Nexblog: We (NEXblog) haven taken some pictures of the SEL1018 zoomed in and out. While zooming, the lens is 10mm longer at its maximum. Something that you as a user do not suffer from, as it occurs under the hood. On the pictures below you can see cleary the bayonet connection of the hood. Not very huge news, but I have never seen this on the internet. So mayby it is usefull for SAR readers. This is our article: http://nexblog.be/2012/09/19/eerste-indruk-van-de-10-18mm-f4-e-mount/2884/
5) Michal: “I’m travelling back to Poland from photokina. I have photos videos and interview about new Hasselblad/nex7 camera. I also have nikon d600 and a99 jpg/raw iso tests. Just trying to upload this from car :)
Hasselblad is almost the same camera as nex7. Hassel’s specialists talking about own firmware but preproduction model’s menu is 1:1 like sony. Very nice cameras, with good feeling. Useful grip, but this 2 upper wheels are not so easy to use. Canera is solid. Lots of sony lenses around, but no Hassel’s.”
6) Don: Sony A99 ISO samples on Flickr.
7) Something weird: Anton G.: I spotted this truck in iceland, it made me chuckle.. Alpha powrrrr!  good job on sar its the place to go to get news in the morning and read canon fanboys crying in the afternoon… Her eis the image: http://i1266.photobucket.com/albums/jj524/picrumors/DSC_0550-1_zpsfc647c10.jpg

Fuji talks about the RX1 and wants to make an interchangeable FF.

The RX1 specs, price and preorders are available at Amazon, Adorama, BHphoto, Wex UK ,Wex Germany.

Amateur Photographer published an interview with Fuji and they strongly talk about the Full Frame mirrorless camera future. For Fuji it’s clear that there is a demand for full-frame mirrorless cameras. And when asked about the Sony RX1 Fuji’s X-series designer, Masazumi Imai, told AP: ‘I think many customers want a bigger sensor with first rate design. Sony’s answer is the RX1. Of course, I like that kind of camera but it is completely different to our series because the design is too modern.

In short, Fuji says there is a market for Full Frame compact cameras although it looks like they want to have such a camera with interchangeable mount. Sony really should hurry to deliver us the NEX-9 FF as soon as possible otherwise Fuji may will steal us the show. P.S.: I consider the new Leica M (Click here to see specs) and Leica ME camera too expensive and feature wise not on top of the market. They are playing in another league.

P.S.: Dearsusans wrote a nice article writing the PRO and CONS of the RX1. Check it out!

And here it comes the RX100 Hasselblad sketch!

No joke guys! Hasselblad will also do their own “interpretation” of the successful Sony RX100 camera! This sketch has been found by the dutch friends from DIGIFOTO Pro (Translation here). Peter Stig-Nielsen form Hasselblad confirmed to Digitfotopro that the 18-55mm and two other Sony NEX-lenses wil be re-branded as Hasselblad. On the stand were some Lunars equipped with 18-200mm and 16mm’s, without Sony logo, and not with other Sony E-lenses. Looks like they are going to rebrand those three lenses. Peter didn’t say anything about Hasselblad glass.

One more news: Hasselblad’s new business development manager, Luca Alessandrini will give an interview to Paul Genge at http://www.cameradiner.com today at 20h (19h london time)

Sony camera popularity: Even after all those new Sony cameras the RX100 remains the most popular Sony camera at Amazon US (Click here). Why? It’s a unique camera that satisfies the need for a maximum quality in maximum possible size reduction. And all that for a fair price.

Zeiss lens pictures roundup! Which one would you buy?

Certainly one of the best news from Photokina is the launch of three new Zeiss lenses for the NEX system. Alexander Radojski sent us some pictures of the new lenses (Click on them to see the full size version). All lenses have autofocus, price similar to the current Zeiss 24mm f/1.8 (around $1000) and cover an APS-C circle. This lenses do not cover Full Frame sensor camera like the new [shoplink 14178]NEX-VG900[/shoplink]. This is probably the only bad news for all of these people like me that hope to see a FF NEX-9 alike camera in 2013. Probably the lenses would have been a lot bigger if designed with FF in mind. And as you know this lenses are designed for the Fuji X system (like the new X-E1) too. This may be the reason why they do not cover FF. The lenses will ship in mind 2013. The big question is:

The patent describes those five FE zooms. Which one would you consider to buy?

Hasselblad response to critics: “the Lunar is not a rebranded NEX-7”.

Lunar camera with the new Distagon E-mount Zeiss! (Image courtesy: Alexander Radojski)

BJP reportsthat Hasselblad got “heavily denigrated” after the Lunar camera launch. And now Hasselblad is trying to explain why the price for the camera is correct. Business development manager, Luca Alessandrini said: “We are doing is buying different components from the best suppliers, and applying our knowledge and expertise to create a different camera. This is not a NEX 7 camera, just because we are buying components from Sony. The hardware is just a small part of the whole. It’s not because we’re using a Sony sensor that it makes the Lunar a Sony camera“.

The camera body is made of aluminium and Luca Alessandrini said that it takes five hours to machine the body. That alone costs $300.Luca also said that they are ready to launch more camera that may be more different from current Sony cameras: “if Sony were to release a NEX 9, Hasselblad would not automatically use the camera’s technology to unveil its own version

Sony interview at AP. 36MP FF and an interchangeable RX1 alike camera are a “possibility”.

Amateur Photographer posted an interview made with Toru Katsumoto and Tetsuya Numata from Sony. Here are some interesting info:
– They recognize that many people love the optical viewfinder and this is true especially for full-frame products. But Sony believes the EVF technology is better and the future.
– The very interesting info is that Sony confessed that they didn’t use the 36 million pixels sensor because “we couldn’t do 60p video or produce the same sensitivity levels“. De facto they confirm the Nikon D800 sensor is made by them! They also add: “When the technology improves we can increase the pixels.
– When asked if there will be a Higher than A99 FF model they answer: “It is a possibility“.
– Sony ddint’ opt for the XQD cards because it “consumes a lot of power“.
– When asked if the RX1 could eventually be redesigned as an interchangeable lens camera they answer again: “It is a possibility“. One more thing about the RX1: Sony has no plan yet to make a RX1 wide angle or telephoto adapter.

Editor’s note: There are three Key PRO FF products Sony has to work on:
1) An entry level FF: The Nikon D600 is now in Stock at Amazon and already back on top of the ranking (see here). There is definitely a market for a $2000 SLT FF camera!
2) A high end Photographic  centered High Megapixel camera: While the A99 is an almost perfect hybrid camera there is still some room for a more photographer oriented High Megapixel camera a la Nikon D800.
3) An interchangeable FF camera styled like the RX1 would have no competition on the market (I do not count the over expensive Leica M cameras).

Hasselblad own lenses coming? Send me your Photokina images!

Image credit: Colamanago. The Rec button looks like a Ruby!

Editor’s note: Dear readers! I can’t go at photokina because I have work to do in Berlin. If you have some nice photokina picture to show feel free to send me your images at sonyalpharumors@gmail.com. If you want you can also send me your name and website link to credit the picture. I look for pictures of the new Sony cameras but also of the three new Zeiss primes, the Sigma lenses and of course the Hasselblad stuff. Thanks guys!

Now back to Hassleblad. Popphoto reports about the new Hasselblad Lunar camera that “Hasselblad has done a fair bit of tinkering with the insides, which they claim make it more “precise” in its operation. There’s also a new interface for navigating the camera.” And about the lenses: “When it starts shipping at the beginning of next year, the Lunar will come with a kit lens that looks very much like the 18-55mm Sony kit lens. According to the rep, though, it is Hasseblad glass, which is why it wears the Hasselblad badge. Two more lenses are apparently on the way, but it will even use E-mount lenses.

As correctly stated by some of our readers Hasselblad itself usually outsources the Lens design to Zeiss and Fuji. There are Hassleblad [shoplink 14329 ebay]Distagons (here on eBay)[/shoplink], [shoplink 14330 ebay]Sonnars (here on eBay)[/shoplink] and so on…
