DxO now supports the Beercan! For a long time, it seemed like DxO only made correction modules for current or recent lenses. I was surprised to find out that they released a module for such an old lens (regardless of its cult-like following). Here is a link to DxO’s page where they confirm the support – http://www.dxo.com/intl/photo/news/DxO-Optics-Pro-new-lens-camera-combinations36

Sony A77 review at Megapixel (Click here).

I did some panorama shots with the Sony A77 and the Rokinon 8mm fisheye. I used a tripod to take shots at 8 positions (45 degree increments). I took 3 bracketed shots at position, for 24 total shots.
I used Photomatix Pro to create 8 HDR images fo each position, then Hugin to stitch the regular panorama and the little planet.

Here’s one of Ron Jeremy for example…

The Metabones EOS to NEX adapter was defective. Now issue fixed.

Andrew Reid from EosHD (Click here) discovered that the very acclaimed EOS to E-mount adapter with electronic controls from Metabones was defective! Andrew says the optical design has “major ghosting and inner reflections from the internal plastic housing.

The good news is that Metabones now fixed the problem with an anti-reflective part. If you already own one of the first issued adapters contact Metabones and send your adapter back for a service!

Here is the naked NEX-3!

Lensrentals (Click here) undressed the [shoplink 3000]Sony NEX-3[/shoplink] to see how it looks inside: “I’m generally not a Sony fan, but it’s amazing how much Sony has simplified the design of this camera – not just compared to SLRs, but even to other mirrorless cameras. And props to them for doing a lot of little things that cost money but probably make the camera better and more reliable: heavy electronic shielding, gluing down the flex clamps, using copper shields instead of aluminum, etc.

It’s good to know that Sony is using top engineering to build their own cameras! Thanks Lensrentals for that nice article!

New Toy Lens and new Tilt Shift Lens from Samyang.

A photoshoped Samyang Tilt Shift lens. But the real lens will arrive soon :)

On March 13th Sony will have a big announcement but in the meantime also third party companies are active on the lens front. Megapiksel (via PR) posted that image of the upcoming new 24mm f/3.5 Tilt-Shift lens fro Samyang. It will be available for Alpha mount.

And SLR magic just released the new 28mm Bokehmorphic Toy Lens for the NEX system. You can buy it for $125.00 on [shoplink 11710 ebay]eBay (Click here to check it out)[/shoplink].

Unexpected high demand for the Zeiss 24mm (shortages!)

[shoplink 8450][/shoplink]

You guys are buying too many Zeiss 24mm f/1.8 lenses for your NEX camera and that’s why Sony Japan issued an official statement to say that they have no such lens anymore :)

In USA it’s out of Stock in all major stores like at Amazon (Click here) and BHphoto (Click here). And in Europe it’s hard to find. This on more time proves that good lenses will sell well even if the price isn’t really low.  I hope this will push Sony to release more of such exceptional lenses!

Canon 5DmarkIII announced (what’s to like or not to like?)

Canon just announced the camera that will be THE direct competitor of the upcoming A99 SLT camera. A camera news coverage is available via my friend Frank from CanonWatch (Click here). Preorders with price and specs info are available at Amazon (Click here).

At first glance I have to say I am surprised to see so little innovation inside the markIII. I mean, there are many small improvements and some more major improvements (like the new AF system). But I think the Nikon D800 (and D800E) did more.

I bet the A99 will be cheaper than the 5D, have a faster AF in video and be on par in terms of RAW image quality. But what in your opinion should Sony “copy” from the new Canon 5DmarkIII?
