The Pros and Cons list about the A7II.

Gordon from CameraLabs (Click here) posted his full A7II review and writes:

I can tell you this though: when the choice was between the A7 and the A7r, I’d have gone for the latter as the former failed to deliver significant benefits in handling. But now with the improved grip, better AF and stabilised sensor, the A7 Mark II has become a much more usable camera, and one I much preferred using to either the A7 or A7r, even with the latter’s extra resolution. Indeed since I’m not a pro video shooter the A7 Mark II has become my favourite in the full-frame Alpha mirrorless series and a model I can easily recommend even with the caveats mentioned above.
I can’t however imagine this will be the only full-frame mirrorless camera from Sony this year, so once again if video or ultra high resolution stills are your priorities, I’d either wait for a new model or snap up one of the originals. It’s also worth mentioning the original A7, which despite being first generation, currently represents great value if you simply want the most affordable entry to full-frame mirrorless photography.

Even non camcorder fans should look at TheCameraStore’s Sony FS7 4K camcorder review. You really will see  how important that camera is to push the E-mount system as a whole. And Sony really listened to the customers to make a close to perfect camera. Something we hope will happen with future E-mount photo cameras too!

“While current Sony A7 owners may be groaning because of the quick refresh to their brand new camera, they can rest assured that the A7 Mk II is really nothing more than a further attempt to snatch up the professional market. This is evident in the small changes. As a current A7 owner though, I won’t be upgrading. I don’t really need image stabilization because I’m a very steady shooter and the autofocus performance of the A7 hasn’t made me scream when shooting–that’s a prize that is awarded to the A7r.
We applaud Sony for their innovation, but we believe that they should time their releases a bit better.“

Sony A7 II vs. Sony A6000 – Landscape Use by Admiringlight:

“I do think it’s clear that, for landscape use at least, the differences between full-frame and APS-C are not quite as big as is often made out to be. On the flip side, this test doesn’t take into account the other benefits of moving to a full-frame sensor: better noise control and better subject isolation with fast lenses, and the A7 II definitely does still have an advantage in image quality here. It’s just rather small.“

Tystory (Click here) is the only reviewing site that got his hands on the Samyang 135mm f/2.0 which comes in both A-mount (Click here) and E-mount (Click here). The review shows a comparison between the new Samyang and the much more expensive Zeiss 135mm f/1.8 A-mount lens.

The reviewer doesn’t draw any conclusions but shows a very detailed comparison and it’s quite clear that the Samyang is a very good lens! At first glance the Samyang looks a tiny bit sharper wide open and also suffers of less color fringing.

Of course we have to see more tests to draw any meaningful and more “final” conclusion But I am sure Samyang (as usual) has again delivered a very fine lens here.

All in all, Sony took everything it learned from the launch of the original A7 and made it better. Yes, the A7 II is heavier and, yes, it is missing attributes, like 4K video. However, those compromises (if you can call them that) mean the new camera starts at $1,700 for the body only, making it relatively accessible to prosumers. And make no mistake: It’s worth every penny.

The Sony A7 II is the most enjoyable Sony camera I’ve ever shot with, and the excellent image quality along with great ergonomics and usability make the A7 II one of the best, if not the best, mirrorless cameras on the market.  The $1,699 pricetag might be at the upper end of the range of the mirrorless spectrum (with only its sister cameras the A7r and A7s coming in higher), but given what you receive, it’s really an attractive price with excellent bang for the buck.  It’s a camera that I wholeheartedly recommend.

The Sony A7 II delivers in my opinion and besides the few nit-picks I pointed out in the video review, it’s fantastic. The firmware update addressed the only real issue with the camera and now the IBIS works flawlessly with my favorite old school lenses!

I’ve been selling all my Canon gear and I’m not missing it for a second. And I suspect my Fuji X100 will be collecting dust as well. The Sony A7II is an absolutely brilliant camera for street photography and I can’t recommend it enough. It’s definitely the best interchangeable lens camera I’ve ever used.

The A6000 may not be on the headline like an A7s but it’s certainly one of the best cameras you can get for much under $1,000.
