The Sony 50mm F1.4 GM is a superb 50mm for Sony E mount : one of the most compact and light in its class, superb optical performances (sharpness , bokeh, color rendering…) , ergonomics (click/clickless aperture ring ) and perfect AF
I couldn’t agree more with Manny! I myself own the Sony A7rV and I am super happy with it! it does it all for me: High Resolution stills photography, good enough video quality and now even vlogging for my youtube channel :)
I made a super quick tutorial to show how to “extend” the canvas size of famous photos. It’s kind of fun and you can obviously use this on anything: Famous photos, Art images or your own creations!
We haven’t seen any review of the new Viltrox AF 28mm f/1.8 FE lens yet. Here we have a Chinese tester using the lens. Activate the auto translated subtitles to hear his findings about this lens:
The Viltrox 16mm F1.8 (500$ / 520 euros) is a new gem from Viltrox. It is the only 16mm F1.8 prime for Sony mount and achieve top results optically and ergonomically
Optically : : very good to excellent sharpness. Very good color rendition, soft background blur, very good AF , good resistance to flare, low distortion , moderate vignetting, no focus breathing, low coma Ergonomically : reasonable weight for a F1.8 wide angle, aperture ring click/clikless , digital screen, Fn buttons, USBC connectivity, weather sealed
The next best items would be the Sigma 16-28mm F2.8 DG DN Contemporary (900 euros) or the Sony FE 16-35 mm F2.8 GM (2300 euros)
This will be the ideal lens for a landscape, astrophotography, night street photography or architecture. Highly recommended
