The first long and detailed Sony A99 test comes via Mobile01 (Translation here). You can watch and download plenty of images in JPG, RAW and different ISO’s. I will leave any comment about the image quality to you. I think there will be no difference between this camera and other FF camera in the same league. The features will make the difference (in better or in worse).

When Sony announced the RX1 quite many said the price ($2800) was way too high. But read what Lloyd Chambers (Click here) says about the RX1 lens only: “It is my expectation that the Zeiss Sonnar 35/2 will outperform the Leica 35/2 Summicron-M. I am not basing this on the fantasy-land Sony MTF charts” And the Leica Lens alone costs over $3000 ([shoplink 14717 ebay]just check the price here on eBay[/shoplink]). And he also says: “I expect the Sony RX1 to be an exceptional performer in terms of sharpness and bokeh and dynamic range and color and noise.”

For the record, Lloyd is a well known and what’s more important also very honest reviewer. A good premise for Sony.

Imaging Resource posted a new set of NEX-6 image samples and writes: “It’s a nice addition to the NEX line, particularly with its hybrid AF that should help video focusing. Image quality looks pretty good”

Steve Huff also published new pictures and says: “For those wondering if the NEX-6 is an improvement over the NEX-7 I would say DEFINITELY. It is quicker, snappier, more responsive, does not seem to overheat (in my limited use so far),has sharp IQ, comes with a great new kit zoom and even feels better with its matte finish.”

Engadget also tried to make an A99 versus RX1 image comparison but you can’t really see any difference based on that test.

Sony NEX-6 test video

Still have’t seen enough image samples? Here are some new ones:

Engadget posted new Sony NEX-6 image samples and the video you see here on top. And also Dpreview posted a new Sony A99 image gallery. Another new A99 gallery also at Pixiq. And new images also have been posted on ThePhoBlographer. I heard of no reviewer yet complaining about the image quality. And knowing Sony’s history I expect RAW images to be visibly better than the JPG images we have seen so far. At least Sony’s image quality is going better by every new camera generation release. Unlike Canon that released a new Rebel that is worse than the previous model!!! Source DxOmark.

An anonymous reader testedt the A99 and wrote this: “I have done some photography with a pre production A99 the results are stunning the images are sharp and clean ISO 3200 is perfectly usable as is 6400. The colour is great the noise is not an issue. The RAW files look stunning from LR4, the in camera JPEGs are more filmic in their look grainy not as smooth as the RAW conversions from LR4 but very beautiful. Few people have had a chance to use this camera and as one who has it is very very good. I have not used it enough to offer in depth feedback but simple things like the implementation of a new quick navi screen is very welcome. the new hotshoe wireless flash (works great)That itt is great to hold eay to shoot with and takes great images, way way better than the A900 and 850. Cameras are to take pictures with and should not to get in the way of the ! user this camera is a photographers camera. It is such a pity that comments about this camera bere relationship to its ability which like most digital cameras is beyond what most of us are capable of imagining. Park your pixel peeping and let this camera drive possibilty, cameas are as rarely dissapointing as our predjudice, it is a cool machine and I look foward to owning one and letting its possibility help make me a better photographer”

Sony held a meeting with blogger in San Francisco and every couple of hours we see new posts with image samples and test. Particularly ThePhoBlographer was active in publishing new stuff (great work guys!). And the administrator even writes: “I am extremely close to purchasing the A99. Engagdet published a first RX1 preview including a first video sample you can watch on top of this post. There are also untouched smaple images available for download (Click here). Engadget writes: “Overall, the RX1 is a really, really nice compact camera. Shoving a full-frame sensor in a 4.5 x 3 inch chassis is quite a technical achievement, and the photos it produces are the highest quality we’ve ever seen in a shooter that size.”
