50mm for NEX gets reviewed at SLRgear. And Shadow Hot Shoe review

SLRgear (Click here) posted the full 50mm for NEX test: “The Sony E 50mm ƒ/1.8 OSS is a capable lens, marred only by some poor CA performance when used wide open; even then, depending on the subject matter, it may not be particularly noticeable.

And I also found the first NEX 5n Shadow Hot Shoe Review at Cameradojo (Click here): “if you want to use speedlites or studio strobes with your NEX 5n, you really have no other choices today. In the end, the Shadow works and if you need the functionality, at least there is a solution available.

Sony news/reviews roundup…(RX100, Sigma 19mm and new Shift Rotator)

SHIBUYA @ Night – 2012 from Xavi Orquin on Vimeo.

Good Morning! I have to catch up with some Sony related reviews posted in these days. On top of this post you can watch the first RX100 video sample posted on vimeo. It might be of interest for future RX100 owners :)

Reviews:
Pocket Lint posted a full RX100 review: “Is it worth it? Absolutely. The RX100 will be exactly what many demanding photographers have been waiting for: a truly pocketable high-end, large-sensor compact.
18-135mm lens tested at Photoreview. Sigma 19mm image smaples and crop at SonyAlphaLab. Pro Shift Rotator for the NEX system at Photoscala (Translation here).

(UPDATED) The difference between Sony 36 Megapixel with and with modified AA filter

DxOmark (Click here) now posted the full results of the Nikon D800E which still has an anti aliasing filter but uses a second layer of the LPF to undo the effects of the first (Unlike the similar Nikon D800). As you know (and Nikon doesn’t tell you) both use the Sony 36 Megapixels sensor which will very likely used by a new Full Frame camera in 2013. Dxo writes: “The Nikon D800E received an overall DxOMark score of 96 points, making it the best camera ever tested at DxOMark. It edged out the D800 by a single point.

Some great NEX-7 work in Island and Ireland (send me your work!)

Water of Iceland from Jerka on Vimeo.

On top you can watch a video shot in Island. It really makes me wish to take a flight to there today :(
And Bob Towery posted his work done in Ireland with the NEX-7.

At that point it may be a good idea to post a new collection of SonyAlphaRumor readers work. Please send me your best work done with a Sony camera at sonyalpharumors@gmail.com. Please one work only!

P.S.: Tomorrow I am out for climbing but I have scheduled some news for you :)

NEX-7 shoots Katherine Crockett!

:Katherine:Crockett:Prologue:Blue: from Mike Kobal on Vimeo.

As you know our friend and professional fashion photographer Mike Kobal owns a Sony NEX-7. And he used that camera for a shooting with Katherine Crockett. She is the Martha Graham’s principal dancer! More about that here: http://www.mikekobal.com/blog/?p=5203.
Ronmartblog posted the NEX-7 review: “My only real gripe about this camera are the annoying menu system and its lack of quick access to things like white balance and macro mode. I also hated that I didn’t have a zoomable live view like I would on a DSLR. If you are hell bent on going with a more compact alternative to a DSLR, then I think you’ll be happy with the Sony NEX-7.
Zelenpol announced some colored NEX-7 half cases. The Black version is already available on eBay (Click here).

Sony NEX-5n/NEX-7/VG-20 news and reviews roundup…

One of the most annoying problems of the NEX-5N is the overheating issue. A very (non)practical solution is to use a cooling fan! Just check the video I posted here on top :) I hope the upcoming new NEX-F5 will not have that kind of problem anymore!

And here are some other NEX-5n, NEX-7 and VG-20 reviews:
Can the superexpensive new Leica X2 beat the Sony NEX-5n? Focus Numerique (Click here) posted a noise comparison. The difference is negligible. You just pay that Leica name on that camera :)
Our reader Randy made aLens test from Nikon and Mamiya lenses on the NEX 7 on Flickr (Click here).
Charles from Videoacademy (Click here) put the world up side down. The question was, id the Vg-20 videocamera good enough for still photography?
