New full Samyang/Rokinon 35mm f/1.4 review at Kurt Munger.

[shoplink 7453 ebay][/shoplink]
Kurt Munger (Click here) reviewed one of my favorite lenses, the Samyang/Rokinon 35mm f/1.4 lens: “Optically speaking, the Rokinon 35mm F/1.4 is excellent, with very high sharpness at almost all apertures, low distortion, minimal light fall-off at F/2, and no coma, even in the far corners at F/1.4!  Probably the biggest drawback for most people is the fact that it’s a manual only lens, meaning there is no communication between the lens and camera (Sony models)

To find the lens you have to search for the different brand names! In US you can find it as Rokinon at Amazon (Click here), Adorama (Click here), BHphoto (Click here) and on [shoplink 7453 ebay]eBay (Click here)[/shoplink]. In Europe the name is Samyang and you can find it on [shoplink 7380 ebay]eBay (Click here)[/shoplink] and with the name Wallimex again on [shoplink 7831 ebay]eBay (Click here)[/shoplink].

The real bargain is the 85mm f/1.4 you can get for $274 on Amazon (Click here), branded with the name Rokinon on [shoplink 7456 ebay]eBay (Click here)[/shoplink] and branded with the name Samyang on [shoplink 7454 ebay]eBay (Click here)[/shoplink].

New Sony exotic lens reviews (Rokinon 85mm, Industar 28mm)

[shoplink 7456 ebay][/shoplink]
Oliviatech (Click here) compèared the Sigma and Samyang/Rokinon 85mm f/1.4 lenses. They are both cheap but very good alternatives of the Zeiss 85mm f/1.4 lens. If you don’t care about manual focusing only than get the Samyang lens! You can find it with different names:

Rokinon 85mm f/1.4 auctions on [shoplink 7456 ebay]eBay (Click here)[/shoplink] and at Amazon (Click here) and BHphoto (Click here).

Onemorelens (Click here) tested the Industar 69 – 28mm f/2.8 on a Sony NEX camera: “This thing is so small, it fits in the inner zipper pockets of my camera bag, usually reserved for cords & memory cards. So is it the perfect compact, manual focus lens for the NEX? Probably not, but it’s definitely fun to use!” You can find that lens on [shoplink 7775 ebay]eBay (Click here)[/shoplink].

Minolta AF 200mm f/2.8 review at Photozone. It’s a “marvel lens!!!”

And here we have the next nice review from Photozone (Click here). They tested the Minolta AF 200mm f/2.8: “The Minolta AF 200mm f/2.8 APO G HS is a marvel of a lens indeed. It is sharp as a tack in the relevant aperture range and even superior to the current [shoplink 7568 ebay]Sony 70-200mm f/2.8 APO G SSM[/shoplink].” Oh makes me wonder why such good lenses are no more in production!!! Sony wake up! Release a new 200mm lens that has at least the same terrific performance! The only place where you can find the lens in of course on [shoplink 7710 ebay]eBay (Click here to see the Minolta lens auction)[/shoplink].

Photozone reviews the 28-75mm f/2.8 lens!

[shoplink 7704][/shoplink]The Sony 28-75mm f/2.8 SAM has been tested by Photozone (Click here): “The Sony 28-75mm f/2.8 SAM is an affordable alternative to the Zeiss ZA 24-70mm f/2.8. Technically it isn’t all that far away from its bigger brother – both have a weakness at max. aperture specifically with respect to the corner resolution. However, the Zeiss is generally more snappy here (higher contrast) – this aspect is not exactly a strength of the Sony lens.

A must have lens! The Samyang 35mm f/1.4 reviewed by Ken Rockwell!

[shoplink 7453 ebay][/shoplink]

The starblogger Ken Rockwell tested the new Samyang 35mm f/1.4 lens. he tested it on a Nikon but as you know the lens is available with A-mount too so you should definitely read the article: “For where and when you can take the time to focus precisely manually, this Samyang lens is a total winner.

The lens is in Stock for $499 at Amazon (Click here), branded with the name Rokinon on [shoplink 7453 ebay]eBay (Click here)[/shoplink] and branded with the name Samyang on [shoplink 7380 ebay]eBay (Click here)[/shoplink].

DxOMark tested the Sony NEX-C3: “a great sensor in a tiny camera”

DxOmark (Click here) tested the new [shoplink 7207]Sony NEX-C3[/shoplink]. They also tried to understand if the Sony NEX C-3 vs [shoplink 5509]Sony A580[/shoplink] vs Pentax K5 vs Nikon D7000 are using the same sensor: “The scores say no, but our measurements loudly say yes, this is the same sensor but it has been tuned differently:

  • Strangely, the lowest ISO available on the NEX C3 is a mere ISO 200, this limitation does not allow the user to take full advantage of the built characteristics of this sensor in Low-ISO.
  • Not being able to go further down than ISO 200 explains the difference in scores as far as dynamic range and color sensitivity are concerned.

On the other hand the Sony NEX C3 should be able to provide the same Image Quality scores in High ISO (the lowlight ISO Score is of 1083).

So why did Sony ban the ISO 100 from the Sony NEX-C3? Mystery!
