We got three new “messages” about the possible FX9 and FX6 cameras:

Source 1:

The next generation of XDCAM cameras from Sony are the PXW-FX9 and PXW-FX6. These will feature the next generation of sensor chipset providing much improved AF with face detection and Eye-AF.

These will also be based on the current FS5/7 design and with some features from the Sony Venice cinema camera. First out is the higher end PXW-FX9 this fall and next year a lower end PXW-FX6.

Codecs include XAVC for both cameras with XQD on the PXW-FX9 and SDXC for the PXW-FX6. Both will do 10-bit internal recording and external RAW recording. Resolution for the PXW-FX9 is almost full 6K in full frame and for the PXW-FX6 S35 sized sensor at around 5.7K. PXW-FX9 will use XAVC-I and XAVC-L codecs and PXW-FX6 will use XAVC-L only.

Sony will be releasing a successor to the FS7 camera with a 6k full frame sensor and dual-base ISO this December, the current prototype’s name is the FX9. Announcement is coming in mid September.

Back in July a new source told me the Sony A7rIV would be announced soon and I didn’t really believe him until the very last second. Now I know better and I will take him a bit more seriously from now on :)

Well today he contacted me again and told me quite some big news. But this time he gave me a warning that unlike the A7rIV rumor he shared this time he is yet not 100% sure about this. This is  what he “heard”:

a9ii announcement should be in about 1-2 weeks. 33-36mp
mind blowing specs, but i don’t know much more than this
want to go big for the olympics phenomenal specs

UPDATE:

Same source said the announcement will be made in late September. While some sports photographers will already see the camera before the announcement in 1-2 weeks in a “closed door” event.

All we know with 100% certainty is that a high end camera will be announced soon. This camera got already officially registered  in Asia:

But I am still completely uncertain if this is the A9II or A7sIII.  Yes we need the A7sIII but it’s also true that Sony has to respond to the new Nikon D6 which will be announced on September 5. I guess that Nikon made everything possible to outshine the current Sony A9. A new Sony A9II with groundbreaking sensor tech could kill it at birth!

Nokishita reports that  this camera will have the same Wifi capabilities of the new A7rIV.

Sources confirmed that there will be one more Full Frame camera announcement very soon! They are 100%  sure it’s Full Frame and a new “BIG ONE” camera :)

I am now unsure if this is the A7sIII (or A7sIV) or the A9II or…crazy speculation: both are the same camera?  Anyway, I got some early unconfirmed specs that I will post soon on SAR. Stay tuned!

We were right on the type of cameras and off on the names  :)

Nokishita just confirmed that today Sony will announce the new Sony A6100 and A6600! We got no specs yet. All we know is that the A6600 has IBIS.

Moreover they report the pages of the new lens hoods “ALC-SH160” and “ALC-SH161” are also being created. So two new lenses will be announced too?

Now let’s be on SAR today at 10am New York time to follow the Sony APS-C announcement!

Alphauniverse officially announced a new product announcement for tomorrow (August 28) at 10am New York time!

That’s 7am in Los Angeles, 16:00 in Berlin and 23:00 in Tokyo.

Here is what to expect:

90% chance of getting the new A6700
90% chance of getting the new A6200  (unsure if that’s the final name)
90% chance the new A6700 has IBIS
60% chance the A6700 has same A6400 sensor
60% chance the A6700 has 4k60p recording, more capable battery, same A7rIV EVF, and of course same A7rIV autofocus  system
40% chance of getting the new APS-C lenses (most likely a zoom)

Possible surprise:

I am 100% sure a THIRD camera will be announced soon too. I suspect  it’s coming in September/October and not tomorrow. And this might be the A7sIII. But we can always hope for miracles and we might get it tomorrow..
