Sony teaser for the July 17 announcement shows big “explosion”. And source says specs are “crazy”!

This is what I got the last few hours from reliable sources:

Rumor One:

I just received an image of the Sony teaser for the July 17 announcement shows big “explosion”. The source asked me NOT to publish it so I cannot show it to you. But all I can say is that it shows a big “Explosion” on top.

They are clearly hinting something major is coming. The source that received this said there will be “multiple” camera announcements.

Rumor Two:

A guy in China who got RX0MII and FE35F1.8 before the announcement just tweeted that “the Sony camera spec is crazy”. He won’t spill out any information but  now it’s pretty sure it is some high-end stuff.

(SR3) Sony A6500 successor to be announced on July 17? First info: Larger body, FZ100 battery, and same A6500 look!

I am getting conflicting rumors about the new A6500 successor. Here is the story:

Source 1 (first time asian source):

Told me the A6500 successor will be announced on July 17 and be a sports oriented camera. It would be announced along two new APS-C lenses (I had ranked this SR3 which means only 50% reliable. Article here)

Source 2 (usually reliable source):

This usually reliable source heard nothing about a possible A6500 successor announcement on July 17. So he for now thinks it might NOT be announced on July 17. All he heard is that Sony would announce a new RX camera and another secret model which he thinks is not APS-C. He has a very good track on rumors so I had this rumor posted as SR5 – 90% reliable (article here).

Source 3 (usually reliable source):

Today a third reliable sources told me this:

“July 17 Sony A6500 successor announcement. FZ100 battery, slightly larger body, A6500 appearance.”

UPDATE: Source 4 (usually reliable source):

The announcement on the 17th is the successor to the α6500. The camera shape is the α6000 series, not the center EVF.

As you see Source 2/4 and Source 3 (all with good track record) have somehow conflicting info. Let’s see who will be right on July 17 :)

SAR summary:

I will keep the A6500 successor rumor at SR3 for now (50% chance this is true) until I can solve the riddle. But one thing is sure…we will get new cameras on July 17!

(SR5) Sony will release FOUR new camera models between July 17 and September!

As I have told you before Sony will have a major product announcement day on July 17. And while we are not sure what they will announce we know that Sony has registered a total of FOUR new camera models!

Today they registered the fourth new model with the code “WW642826”. It usually takes between 1 day up to 2 months between a camera registration and the official announcement. So while it’s unlikely that all those four models will be announced on July 17 for sure we will all get them til September. Here is the full list via Nokishita:

There are some unexpected news we learn from this list:

1) I have to say I don’t recall ever having seen so many registered (and yet not announced) new models. For sure something BIG must be behind this…
2) Pure speculation: Sony patented a Drone (see here). There might be something like that too?

Stay tuned on SAR to follow the Sony announcement live on July 17 at 3pm London time!

(SR5) I saw the new Sigma FE lenses and here are my impressions: The 45mm f/2.8 is super sexy!

Preorders:
Sigma 35mm f/1.2 FE at Adorama, BHphoto. In EU at ParkUK, WexUK.
Sigma 14-24mm f/2.8 FE at Adorama, BHphoto. In EU at ParkUK, WexUK.
Sigma 45mm f/2.8 FE at Adorama, BHphoto. In EU at ParkUK, WexUK.

I just saw the new Sigma FE lenses but cannot share the images because I have to protect the source. All I can give you is my description:

14-24mm f/2.8 FE:
– It looks nearly the same as the DSLR version (see image on top). It looks to be slightly smaller tough because the zoom ring is even smaller.

35mm f/1.2 FE:
– Very big lens
– 82mm filter size
– has aperture ring

45mm f/2.8 FE:
– This is by far the best looking FE lens! Looks supersexy!
– very compact, with autofocus and with aperture ring. Could become a real CLASSIC !
– 55mm filter size

Of the three lenses the 45mm is definitely my favorite. This because it looks like a perfect street photography lens. Here is the real silhouette of the lens without the hood:

Reminder: Announcement on July 11 at 9am London time! Stay tuned on SAR!!!

One more thing: As I mentioned before the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 is on the roadmap but is not ready for launch on July 11.

(SR5) UPDATE: Sony 35mm f/1.8 FE lens will be announced today at 3-4pm London time!

UPDATE: I just got a rumor from a single but usually reliable source: Sony has scheduled a Lens announcement for today at 3-4pm London time. Sony will announce the new 35mm f/1.8 FE!

This means we will have a total of three announcements the next days:

Sony FE lens launch today at 3-4pm London time:
– We will likely get the new 35mm f/1.8 FE

Sigma FE lens launch on July 11 at 9am London time:
– 35mm f/1.2 FE (Premium construction, Lot of HR elements in construction, record low aberrations, Record MTF of any FF lens at F1.2, Ultra fast and silent AF, made also for video).
– 14-24mm f/2.8 FE (smaller than currentDSLR version)
– 45mm f/2.8 FE (retro model with physical aperture ring, however it still has AF. Very nice build and small size).
– 24-70mm f/2.8 FE and 70-200mm f/2.8 FE are on the roadmap (unclear if Sigma will unveil this on July 11)
Important: All these lenses are designed from ground up for Mirrorless Full Frame systems only (no DSLR version)

Sony camera/lens launch on July 17 at 3pm London time:
– At least one “secret camera model” which we have been told it’s not APS-C
– There will be a new RX camera

Sony India teaser error:
For a short moment we posted an article about a new Sony India teaser hinting “something epic”. But as we learned this was a mistake from Sony and they used an old teaser for the 200-600mm and 600mm launch!

UPDATE: Nokishita seems to confirm the 35mm FE lens will be announced soon…

(SR5) This is what Sony could announce on July 17: A new RX camera a new “secret camera which is not APS-C” and the new 35mm f/1.8 FE

The following info comes from reliable sources. On July 17 Sony will announce at least that gear:

– One new RX camera
– The new 35mm f/1.8 FE
– And a new “secret model” which I have been told is not APS-C..which means it’s not a new A6500 successor

The sources could not confirm if the new secret model is a new FF E-mount camera although it’s “highly likely”. They said Sony Tokyo kept maximum secret on this model.

There could be some more stuff…but that’s not an SR5 rumor yet !

Speculation:
From what I heard the A7sIII is not ready to be on market now…and the A9II neither. So what else could this be?
