A SAR reader told me that the “SKU” of the new Zeiss Batis 40mm f/2.0 lens is already available. The lens will be announced in July-August and ship in October.

Zeiss 40mm Batis specs:

Distagon optical design
The shortest shooting distance is 0.24 m
With focus limiter (Full / ∞ ~ 0.4 m / 0.5 m to 0.24 m)
Filter diameter is 67 mm
Batis Size close to 85mm (40mm is slightly smaller)

We keep receiving confirmation that Sony will announce the final specs and pricing of the Sony 400mm f/2.8 FE at 15:00-16:00 London time. A source also added this:

It will be launched together with another interesting Sony topic.

UPDATE: The interesting Sony topic was the new A9 firmware update.

This lens is listed at Bhphoto now.

I got confirmation from a top source that there will be a Sony product announcement tomorrow at 15:00 London time. The source did not tell what’s going to be announced and only said this:

“price and some specs are surprising.”

UPDATE: Two more sources confirmed Sony will have a product announcement.

I am not 100% sure yet but I guess Sony will announce the full specs and pricing of the new Sony 400mm f/2.8 FE lens. I hope that “price is a surprise” means the lens isn’t as expensive as the Canon 400mm and Nikon 400mm versions. And I wonder what the spec “surprise” will be about…

UPDATE_2: Not sure yet if Sony will also announce another new lens…

UPDATE: A chinese source just sent me these specs sheets of a rumored new Sony CMOS sensor found on Weibo. I am not sure if they are real but it certainly looks like that.

UPDATED: I edited this post and removed the note about the possibility that this might be used by the future A6700. What we learned now is that this is an APS-C sensor with an aspect ratio of 4:3. Which means this is UNLIKELY to be used by the future A6700. Still, this is Sony’s first APS-C sensor with global shutter. Would love the A6700 to have this too!

Ok all sounds good…but so far we have no reliable confirmation this spec sheet is authentic. But if this is a fake it’s one of the best ever I have seen as it uses exactly same font style and size as other original Sony PDF files.

Two sources confirmed that they heard about a Sony announcement coming within days. And it probably be related to the 400mm f/2.8 FE.

They didn’t tell me this but there might be something else too???

I got first unconfirmed rumors about a possible Sony announcement in early July. I hope trusted sources reading this can confirm or deny this soon. It would make sense if Sony would announce the full specs and pricing of the 400mm f/2.8 FE lens in July. The lens is expected to be available in September according to BHphoto.

Moreover Sony recently registered a new camera code….for the A6700?

With all the RX100VI buzz it’s time to recap the two SR5 rumors you might have missed or forgotten about:

(SR5) Zeiss 40mm Batis:
Zeiss is testing a new Batis 40mm f/2.0 CF FE lens. The lens will be announced between now and Photokina. These are the lens specs:

(SR5) Sony camera:
Sony will announce a new camera within 1-2 months. In Asia they registered a new model with code “WW213188”. We don’t know yet what it will be: A6700, A7sIII or a new compact camera?
Sony will also launch the long teased 400mm FE launch in August-September.

One more thing: Also Sigma, Samyang and other comapnies are likely to announce new lenses at Photokina in September and at the New York show in October.
