There is no new Sony A7sIV coming any time soon…is this the end of the entire “S” lineup?

Folks, it’s time to get serious about the next generation of new Alpha cameras. Over the past few weeks, I’ve had several conversations with sources both familiar and new. And they all have the same leitmotif: no one has heard of a possible new Sony A7sIII successor. Now, I’m not omniscient, so maybe Sony has been keeping this super secret and the As7IV will be announced tomorrow :)
But realistically, I don’t think there will be an A7sIV anytime soon…. and now I’m wondering if the “S” series won’t be discontinued. I see the possibility that the future FX3II will be the official upgrade for the current FX3 and the A7sIII. What do you think about that scenario?

All those sources shared some reliable and some unconfirmed info about three kind of cameras: Sony A1II, Sony A7V and a “surprise” model. Did CVP just tease the launch of a new Sony camera? I don’t think so…

A couple of SAR reader noticed that inside CVP’s review of the new Sony 85mm f/1.4 GMII lens they teased the launch of a norther new “product” that is coming soon. From the way they presented It looks like it’s a camera.

Now, I am a bit skeptic, I find it odd that they would be allowed by Sony to tease the launch of a new Sony camera while others cannot talk about this. Maybe this is another non-Sony product they will present in a couple of weeks? What do you think?

First leaked image of the new Sigma 28-105mm f/2.8 FE lens!

For the first time ever you can see an image of the Sigma 28-105mm f/2.8 lens that will be announced on September 5th. The lens will be available for E and L-mount cameras and have a filter size of 82mm and weight of 990g only.

Don’t know the price yet but surely it will be a lot cheaper than the $3000 Canon’s 24-105 mm f/2.8. Stay tuned on SAR on September 5th to follow the live announcement!

LEAKED: New image of the Sony 85mm f/1.4 GM II

Here is a new leaked image of the upcoming Sony 85mm f/1.4 GM II (SEL85F14GM2). The image was leaked by Mike on Reddit. Sony will announce the lens on August 28 at 3 p.m. London time. It will be a bit smaller and lighter than the old 85mm GM. It can be seen that it uses a new ALC-SH180 lens hood.

Compared to the old lens, the new version has a new location for the customization button, a new IRIS lock and aperture marks that are now under the aperture ring. Image quality is said to be much improved over its seven-year-old predecessor.

I am 99% sure that no other new Alpha lenses or cameras will be announced on August 28. Sony’s next announcement should follow in early September, before the start of the IBC trade show.
