Sean: “I recently shot and edited a fashion campaign video for high end swimwear brand JETS. I used an A7rII with Sigma 30mm f1.4 DN in 4k crop mode using a Beholder DS1 gimbal as the main camera. On the tripod was a A7s with Atomos Shogun also recorded in 4k and Sony FE 85mm f1.4 GM lens. It was colour graded and edited in Adobe Premiere Pro. Final output was in 1080p and the setup performed very well. The video can be viewed here:

SAR reader Gleb just sent me this info about the new Zenitar 50mm f/0.95 FF E-mount lens:

I visited the PhotoForum 2017 exhibition in Moscow past weekend where I had a chance to get my hands on the Zenitar 50mm f0.95 E-Mount and test it on my [shoplink 56902]a7sII[/shoplink]. I made a quick instagram video and included some footage that was shot using this lens. The lens looks like a tank, weights like a tank, and built like a tank.
Just don’t forget to mention that this is not a final version of the lens and that everything was shot hadheld at 1/60 sec and wide-open at f0.95, so that’s why it’s kinda blurry and not exactly in focus. I don’t want people to think that the lens is a piece of garbage :)

Hey folks! Are you ready for the next Sony announcement tomorrow?

Enjoyed the A9 buzz? Well, it’s already time to look elsewhere. Tomorrow (Sunday) at 3pm Las Vegas time you can follow the video live stream of the Sony NAB press conference here on SAR. Here are a couple of info:

  1. I heard there is really a lot of exciting Broadcast stuff to be announced. “Someone” told me it will be more exciting than the past year.
  2. The Stolen Sony Truck will have no influence on the show as the missing stuff got already replaces with a new shipment
  3. I have no reliable info about a possible new E-mount camera announcement. So it’s hard for me to think tomorrow Sony will announce the new A7sIII. It’s hard…but not impossible! It would make sense for Sony to release such a camera because the new Panasonic GH5 is really a great camera many PRO’s and Vloggers are considering to buy
  4. There may be a new E-mount camcorder (FS9 or so?)
  5. What we know for a fact: Sony registered two new cameras back in February. One is the A9. But the other one? A7sIII or RX1m3?
  6. What we know from reliable sources is that also the 16-35mm f/2.8 GM lens is ready to be announced. Will it be announced tomorrow or in June?

Quick thanks to our sources for the spot on A9 rumors!

The last months our sources consistently told us the new High End camera would be focused on “High Speed” and have low resolutions sensor (they said around 20Mp), 20fps, Dual SD card, Joystick control, slightly larger A7 body, touchscreen (rumor recap here). The first A9 High Speed camera SR5 rumor got posted on Feb 17 (read here). And our sources also said there would be a new 100-400mm FE lens (rumor here).

These rumors were correct and I have to thank all trusted sources for that!!!

After a difficult two years the last six months SAR got back on track with new trusted sources that correctly shared all recently launched lens specs (85 FE, 100mm STF, 100-400mm) and the A6500 and A9 info. One more great comeback: After 3 years of silence one of my very old trusted sources started to chat back with me about future Sony stuff. He was the one sharing all the full A7 roadmap and camera specs four years ago. So hopes are high he can share some high quality rumors about the future A7 and A9 cameras too.
So thanks again to those sources for sharing the exciting info!

Personal note:
I worked like hell in those weeks. But there is no time to rest. On Sunday we have the NAB show press event and in a few  weeks we will enter a new “rumor time” for the June announcement (16-35mm GM and RX coming?).

First images of the new Samyang 35mm f/2.8 FE lens!

At a Korean Photography Expo Samyang did show this new Samyang 35mm f/2.8 autofocus FE lens. It has the same specs and similar size of the [shoplink 57619]Zeiss 35mm f/2.8 FE lens[/shoplink]. But it will be cheaper (no exact info yet). The autofocus performance is said to be similar to the Samyang 50mm FE.

I can now confirm via trusted sources that Sony will announce a new camera TODAY at 4pm London time (17:00 in Berlin and 11am in NYC):

If (I repeat “if”) previous rumor are correct this might be the first real Sony PRO camera (around 20MP, 20fps, dual SD card slot, touchscreen, joystick control, superb AF, no operation lag, unlimited RAW recording…) and/or a new RX camera or soemthing completely unexpected.

An anoymous source said:

This new camera according to my source will bring Sony to the Pro table and challenge both Canon and Nikon. It is very fast and what pro sports photographers have been waiting for.
